Whistler, BC (November 25, 2014) – Nita Lake Lodge is pleased to welcome Dean Hossack as their newly appointed Executive Chef responsible for all aspects of the lakeside property’s food operations from Aura Restaurant, The Cure Lounge, Fix Café and banqueting for the hotel’s many private events including weddings and corporate retreats. Chef Hossack brings a wealth of knowledge from previous roles in the Okanagan to Whistler and will be an integral figure helping to lead and manage Nita Lake Lodge’s kitchen brigade as well as maintain the property’s long-standing reputation for culinary excellence.

Executive Chef Dean will bring a focus on fresh, local food to the menus at Nita Lake Lodge and still pay tribute to his culinary roots in the Okanagan. Fond of making treks to meet with local farmers and artisans in his previous Okanagan home Chef Hossack looks forward to developing similar relationships with local growers and producers around Whistler and Pemberton. Farm-to-table is also one of his culinary passions. As a staunch supporter of the culinary movement from its inception, he intends to pass on his expertise in the area to his new diverse and talented Whistler kitchen brigade.

“Heading up an operation like the multifaceted food service at Nita Lake Lodge is like stepping up as a conductor in front of an orchestra. There are so many incredible parts to be played and when everyone is enabled to do their part, something incredible happens,” Chef Hossack says. He is inspired by this new leadership role and will be fine-tuning the concepts for the various outlets, building on current successes and expanding offerings to drive growth in the future.

Chef Hossack began his culinary career at S.A.I.T. in Calgary where he graduated with honours before accepting an apprentice position at Lake Okanagan Resort under Canadian Culinary Olympic Grand Gold Medalist, Chef Dave Ryan. His extensive experience in Okanagan kitchens continued as he spent five and half years as the Executive Chef at the Okanagan Golf Club and almost four years at the Kelowna Yacht Club. Prior to that, he also held Executive Sous Chef positions at The Harvest Golf Club and The Coast Capri Hotel. Chef Hossack is also known on the national and international stage, having travelled and competed on a number of occasions as a member of Culinary Team British Columbia in Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany.
