Jan. 30–HANCOCK COUNTY — The new management of Full House Resorts Inc. is turning the top floor of the hotel under construction at Silver Slipper Casino into luxury suites, changing the original plans and adding $1 million to the cost.
“We took the top floor that was going to be 24 rooms and turned it into nine super-suites,” Silver Slipper General Manager John Ferrucci said Thursday.
The 142-room hotel was “topped off” when construction reached its highest point in November, just before Andre Hilliou stepped down as the chairman and CEO of Full House.
Daniel Lee, the new CEO, on his first visit to Silver Slipper asked about the suites and added them to the project, Ferrucci said.
“We believe the addition of luxury suites to the Silver Slipper Casino will help the property stand out competitively on the Gulf Coast,” Lee said in a press release. “We are continuing to evaluate all of our existing properties in an effort to find additional growth opportunities and enhance stockholder value.”
The additional expense for the suites is going to be just about $1 million, and Ferrucci said, “They’re going to be make us very competitive to high-end players.”
The suites will carry the same design as the hotel, he said, and the hotel’s builders will begin work on the suites when they complete the other floors.
The hotel rooms on the first five floors probably will open in early April, he said, and the suites a couple of months later.
