HOUSTON (MARCH 3, 2015) – Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental announces the soon-to-be completion of the first phase of a dramatic multimillion-dollar renovation of their 573-room hotel. The hotel’s premier location in Houston’s major international airport deems it a high-demand destination for business travelers, families and individuals. Both South and North Tower guestrooms and meeting rooms are undergoing total renovation, with South Tower scheduled for completion in May 2015. The upgrades of North Tower rooms and public areas are scheduled for completion by fall of 2015.

The guestroom upgrades introduce an updated soft-contemporary design with streamlined case goods, enhanced lighting, luxury linens and transitionally styled carpet and window coverings. The new case goods package gives the rooms a more spacious look and feel. The custom-designed headboards incorporate the latest technological conveniences with task lighting, electric outlets and USB capabilities. High-speed wireless Internet access and 47-inch LCD TVs are room standard with the renovation. Bathrooms are completely redone with new plumbing fixtures; stone counters, larger mirrors, enhanced lighting and sliding barn door-style doors were added to increase floor space in the dressing area.

The 34 meeting rooms of the premier airport hotel, featuring 30,000 square feet of total meeting space, will also be updated with new furnishings, carpet and wall covering and will feature the latest in technology. Meeting room and event spaces will be outfitted with premium audiovisual systems to provide every convenience for groups, large and small. Exceptional catering, Professional Meeting Planners and Marriott Certified Wedding Planners are available on-site.

“We have an incredible team who is always aiming to provide the best service and experience possible,” said Scot Cotton, general manager of Houston Airport Marriott. “We believe our loyal clients as well as our new guests will appreciate the upgrades we are making to the hotel. We will continue striving to meet the needs of our guests while creating a sense of home that draws them back time and again.”

All public areas within the hotel have been re-imagined and will continue the updated, transitional style of interiors. The hallmark of the new lobby design is a Texas sized Great Room – a large welcoming expanse with multiple seating areas creating a series of living areas for guests to greet, meet and relax. Striking images and works of art invoke the pride and culture of Houston – the skyline, ship channel and oil and gas industry. The clean-lined furnishings and neutral color palette will continue into the new all-day restaurant and full-service lounge bar.

Travelers looking for a refreshing respite may enjoy casual dining throughout the day, and maintain their active lifestyle in the spacious fitness and outdoor salt water pool. The easily accessible hotel is a great location for business meetings, group functions, special events and weddings. Just minutes from all airline gates, the hotel offers convenient and complimentary transportation to and from each terminal via a connected underground tram.
