NEW YORK - May 9, 2014 - The Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is pleased to announce Leland Lewis as the new General Manager. Lewis has excelled in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years and will now oversee all operations for the 1,015-room historic hotel property - deemed "Grand Dame of Madison Avenue" for 90 years since its opening in 1924. General Manager responsibilities range from guest relations and staff team building, to employee management and establishing priorities to ensure delegated tasks remain consistent with hotel objectives.

"Mr. Lewis' expertise within the hospitality management division and extensive business successes made it a very easy decision to have him join our Roosevelt Hotel team," said Jim Biggar, executive vice president of operations for Interstate Hotels & Resorts which manages The Roosevelt Hotel. "We are thrilled to begin working hand-in-hand with Mr. Lewis to continue enhancing the guest experience through all aspects of hotel operations."

Lewis developed a strong hospitality foundation with major corporations, especially InterContinental Hotels. Most recently, Lewis held the position of Executive Director of Patient Support Services for Cleveland Clinic, where he was recruited by the CEO to translate expertise of hospitality and guest services to enterprise wide clinic operations. Starting his InterContinental Hotels career in 1983, Lewis excelled as Director of Sales and Marketing for The Barclay in New York City (1983-1990), where he later returned as General Manager from 2005 to 2009. In the interim, Lewis held key positions at various properties including General Manager at InterContinental New Orleans, Opening Team for InterContinental Montreal, Executive Assistant Manager for InterContinental Toronto, and General Manager for three properties owned by the Cleveland Clinic including: InterContinental Hotel and Conference Center, InterContinental Suites, and Cleveland Clinic Guest House. Moreover, Lewis has proven effective at translating conceptual business models into operational action, while successfully directing cross-functional teams and cultivating major corporate accounts. Specific areas of expertise range from operational and financial business planning, P&L management and metrics/measurement tools, to cost productivity/containment, marketing and revenue management and client relationships and development.
