Nominations also open for Revenue Management Professional of the Year

McLEAN, VA (March 20, 2015) – The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International is accepting nominations for the first-ever HSMAI Americas Vanguard Award for Lifetime Achievement in Revenue Management.

The award honors revenue management professionals who have left an indelible mark on the field of pricing and revenue optimization in the hospitality industry. It recognizes individuals who have spent a major portion of their careers in the revenue management profession and have contributed to the betterment of the industry in a significant and lasting way, over an extended period of time.

The Vanguard Award will be presented at the HSMAI Revenue Optimization Conference set for June 15 in Austin, Texas. The deadline for nominations is April 10, 2015.

“The Vanguard Award recipient will have shown the career-long ability to effectively lead others by encouraging them to work toward and achieve common goals,” said Bob Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “Their contributions to the field may have been through new innovation or through ways to improve revenue management practices within their organization.”

To be considered for the award, nominees should have:

  • Noteworthy and outstanding contributions to the hospitality industry, and the revenue management discipline, during a career spanning at least 20 years;
  • Accomplishments that are truly extraordinary, widely recognized as such, and of positive and lasting quality;
  • Exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others in the sector; and,
  • The highest regard and respect of their peers.

From nominations received, the honoree will be determined by a committee of past chairs of HSMAI’s Revenue Management Advisory Board. Nominations also are open for the Revenue Management Professional of the Year award, co-sponsored by Rainmaker, which will also be awarded at the Revenue Optimization Conference. To qualify for the award, a nominee must:

  • Be currently serving in an on-property or regional revenue management role for a hotel or resort. It does not matter whether the hotel is independent, or part of a brand or management company.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a dedicated revenue management position (where more than 80% of their time is dedicated to revenue management efforts).
  • Demonstrate excellence in at least three (3) of the following areas: o Lifelong Learning o Innovative Leadership o Cross-Discipline Collaboration o Talent Development
  • Advancement of the Discipline

The deadline for 2015 nominations is April 10.
