Addition of new seven-story hotel and adjacent convention center slated to open this fall
ATLANTA, GA - August 5, 2013 - The Rainmaker Group a world leader in automated forecasting and profit optimization software and services for the Gaming & Hospitality industry, today announced that Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has implemented its market-leading GuestREV® profit optimization system as a key technology element of its major expansion project at the Wilkes-Barre, PA, property, one of the largest and most distinctive entertainment, gaming, shopping and dining destinations in the Commonwealth.
Tabbed Project Sunlight, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs' multi-million dollar initiative will add a new seven-story, 238-room hotel, an adjacent 20,000 square-foot Convention Center, a 4,000 square-foot Spa & Salon, and roughly 270 permanent positions that cut across the spectrum of hotel management and operations. A grand opening is slated for the fall, though no official date has been set at this time.
"The goal of Project Sunlight is to enhance our operation, to make it a more complete destination, and to augment our standing as a major positive force for our local and regional economy," said Mike Bean, President and CEO of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. "We selected Rainmaker's revenue management solution because of its proven track record of helping the world's premier casino-hotels identify and bring in their most profitable guests to grow their business."
In forecasting and pricing hotel rooms, Rainmaker's GuestREV profit optimization system factors in the Total Guest Value, or profitability of guest spend for the entire property or enterprise. This unique approach has helped boost gaming and non-gaming revenues from 5 percent to 15 percent at numerous casino hotels since its debut in 2001.
"The Pocono Downs implementation was completed at the end of June and it was our second GuestREV go-live at a Mohegan Sun property in the last three years. We're very appreciative of their continued trust and confidence in our revenue management solution," said Tammy Farley, president of Rainmaker. "This is a critically important transformative period for the Pocono Downs facility and we're extremely excited to be part of helping them maximize their hotel occupancy as well as gaming revenue from their high-value customer segments."
