Orlando, Florida, June 2014 - The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) presented two Navy Lodges with the Meritorious Award and the Golden Pineapple Award. These honors are presented by EI based on exemplary achievement in the hospitality industry.

The Meritorious Award is the highest property-level award given by EI.  It is presented to a lodging facility that has shown continuous improvement in guest satisfaction, participated in EI's training and professional certification programs for a minimum of six years and has already received the Golden Pineapple Award. Only three to five awards are given annually throughout the world.  The 2013 winner was Navy Lodge North Island, California, led by general manager Shelly Schultzman and assistant general manager Regina Dyer, CHS.  

The Golden Pineapple Award recognizes hotels that achieve exceptional standards by placing a high value on professional development, training and continued education with the results of increased guest satisfaction and associate certification.  This year's award was presented to Navy Lodge Jacksonville, Florida, led by general manager Melanie Peters, CLM.

The awards, given for achievement during 2013, were presented during the Navy Lodge's annual worldwide Training and Strategy Workshop, held in May in Jacksonville.
