Sept. 21–Each of the Tri-Cities is expecting a new hotel to open in the next three months, adding 301 new hotel rooms.

And construction is just beginning on a fourth hotel in Kennewick.

An 80-room Hampton Inn hotel is coming to Kennewick’s Southridge. The $5.6 million hotel is being built at 3715 Plaza Way. It will be a four-story, 49,000-square-foot building.

In the meantime, Pasco’s My Place hotel is getting the finishing touches needed for it to open Oct. 16.

The $3.6 million extended-stay hotel on Rodeo Drive near TRAC features 64 rooms.

It has a MyStore with food and beverages near the lobby, laundry facilities, and a business center with access to a computer, printer and Internet, said Heather Correll, My Place director of sales and marketing.

Reservations are not being accepted yet, she said. It is the first hotel in the area for the My Place chain, which is based in South Dakota. A My Place hotel also is opening in Spokane this fall.

Richland’s Homewood Suites by Hilton may open mid-November, said Rebecca Selby, director of sales and advertising for Vandervert Developments & Hotels of Spokane, the management company for the project.

Construction is still ongoing at the 115-room new hotel at 1060 George Washington Way. The $10.8 million project was permitted in summer 2011.

Also still under construction is the five-story SpringHill Suites by Marriott, which connects to Kennewick’s Three Rivers Convention Center.

Officials say the 122-room, $7 million hotel is already helping get more meeting planners to consider the Tri-Cities as a location for upcoming conventions.

The hotel is expected to open sometime in the next three months.

Vijay Patel, president of A-1 Hospitality of Kennewick, who owns the hotel, already owns two other Tri-City hotels — the Holiday Inn Express next to TRAC in Pasco and the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Kennewick.
