FLOWER MOUND, TX – During the October 20 Town Council meeting, Council members approved a measure that will assist Rainier Medical in developing the Town’s first hotel, planned for the River Walk development. In partnership with DePalma Hotels & Resorts, Rainier plans to develop an upscale, select-service hotel.

“This is a big win for Flower Mound,” said Council Member Mark Wise, who was instrumental in the process. “Flower Mound residents will finally have a local destination to welcome visiting family members and friends.”

Flower Mound Economic Development Director Mark Wood agreed, this has been a long time coming for the Town.

“Flower Mound has pursued a hotel for quite some time and I’m excited we’re finally able to add this amenity for our residents,” Wood said. “With Flower Mound’s close proximity to the DFW Airport, business travelers and visitors will be able to contribute to our local economy and enjoy all Flower Mound has to offer.”

The hotel is anticipated to be five stories and incorporate approximately 140 guest rooms and suites in addition to 6,000 square-feet of meeting space. It will also feature a restaurant and bar, pool, exercise room, balconies and outdoor seating area, and multiple fire pits. With a projected opening date in the first quarter of 2016, the hotel will be part of Rainier Medical River Walk development.

“We have a significant investment in this community and believe Flower Mound is the perfect place for additional commercial development,” said Tim Lavender, President of Rainier Medical. “We’re looking forward to branching out into the hospitality industry with the assistance of DePalma Hotels & Resorts, and bringing a top-quality hotel to Flower Mound.”

Earlier this year, Rainier retained DePalma Hotels & Resorts’ team for its extensive hotel experience and expertise. DePalma Hotels & Resorts will also serve as the management company of the hotel. The hotel will hold extra meaning for Scott Tarwater, Executive Vice President of DePalma Hotels & Resorts, as he is a Flower Mound resident and has deep family roots in the area. Mr. Tarwater has worked on this project with Leo A Daly, the architectural firm of record, and their Vice President/Managing Principal, Pat Miller, who is also a long-time Flower Mound resident.

“This project will be special to me as a Flower Mound resident,” Tarwater said. “I am so proud to be part of this community and enjoy all of the many wonderful things Flower Mound has to offer. Now, we will also have a quality, upscale hotel that has been long overdue. I look forward to working with our Chamber of Commerce and local corporations to start filling up our conference calendar.”

Additional hotel updates will be provided as soon as they are available and will be posted to the Town’s website, www.flower-mound.com. To view the latest River Walk construction, please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtiX4rab_fc.
