SAN ANTONIO (November 2016) Dan King, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa, has been awarded Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s coveted Jay A. Pritzker Award for Leadership, 2015. A lifetime achievement award, the Jay A. Pritzker Award honors individuals who have consistently demonstrated their ability as leaders, coaches and mentors. They are high achievers leading top-performing hotels, and are viewed as role models of Hyatt’s purpose and values.

“Dan exudes a special energy and spirit that embodies this award,” said Senior Vice President of Operations, Jordan Meisner. “He has an innate manner in which he is able to provide genuine, authentic hospitality to his customers and hotel guests. Dan is also an exemplary leader in the community and teaches his staff by example, with great humility. General Manager of the resort since 2014, King is responsible for overseeing the 500 room property and its 728 associates.

Hyatt presents the Jay A. Pritzker Award annually to the top professionals in its organization. King was nominated for the award by the management team at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa. He had been nominated for the award four previous times, a testament to how much his leadership is appreciated by the variety of hotel and resort teams he’s led.

A veteran in the hospitality industry, King has worked in 12 Hyatt hotels across the United States during his 35-year tenure with the company. After serving as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Jacksonville for more than six years, he joined Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in May 2014. Throughout his Hyatt career, King has been active in the tourism and hospitality industry, serving in various positions with several chamber of commerce and convention and visitors bureau committees, including a term as president of the North Florida Hotel and Lodging Association and chairing the board of directors of Visit Jacksonville Convention and Visitors Bureau. Locally, King was recently appointed to the executive committee for the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association and is an active member of the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau.
