MIAMI – February 14, 2018 – Hyatt Centric Brickell Miami today announces the appointments of two executives who will help lead the operations and sales divisions for the new Hyatt Centric Brickell Miami hotel, slated to open in March 2018. Ricardo Mendes has been named General Manager and Alex Alvarez has been brought on as Director of Sales and Marketing for the second Hyatt Centric-branded hotel in Miami, which will join Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami.

Situated in the Panorama Tower, Florida’s tallest building, the soon-to-open hotel is owned by Concord Aztec Brickell, LLC, a joint venture comprised of Aztec Group and Concord Hospitality, which will manage the hotel.

“Both Ricardo and Alex are seasoned hospitality professionals with a deep understanding of the local hotel market, the Hyatt Centric brand and the needs of the types of travelers we serve,” said Debra Punke, SVP of Human Capital & Communications, Concord Hospitality.

In his role as General Manager, Mendes will oversee all day-to-day hotel operations in addition to the training of all staff and management of overall hotel budget and revenue. Prior to this appointment, Mendes served as General Manager of the first Hyatt Centric hotel in South Florida: Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami. With more than 18 years of hospitality experience, Mendes has also served as hotel manager of Mondrian South Beach and director of food and beverage for Canyon Ranch Resort & Spa on Miami Beach.

In his role as Director of Sales & Marketing, Alvarez will lead the hotel’s sales and marketing teams, while working closely with the General Manager to develop and execute sales strategies for groups and events to maximize hotel revenues. He brings more than 17 years of hospitality experience to this position. Previously, Alvarez worked for nine years for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and several hospitality companies leading sales strategy, including Hilton Miami Downtown, Hyatt Regency Miami and White Lodging Services.
