April 22–Construction workers Friday were busy putting together some of the final pieces to Coconut Creek’s first hotel set to open in late spring.

From smoothing off the concrete flooring of the lobby’s breakfast room to assembling wooden bed frames in rooms and to erecting a pergola garden structure poolside, work is nearing completion on the 105-room Hampton Inn & Suites.

Project developer and operator Morlin Hospitality Group expects to open the doors on June 2, company president Seth Fellman said Friday during a tour. “The hotel is 90 percent complete.”

Even two months out, the new hotel already has business on the books and more on the way, he said. “We get calls every day for rooms.”

Seven weddings have been booked and nearly 200 room nights already are reserved this year just by local residents and businesses, general manager Kelley Malone added.

“We’re getting a very nice mix of group and individual business,” she said.

Opening nightly rates should start at $129 for a standard room with two queen beds, Fellman said.

The $14 million hotel at 5740 State Road 7 will sport features not typically found in the Hilton limited-service brand, he noted.

Examples of its unique amenities include: a six-hole golf putting green; business kiosks on each floor to print airline boarding passes or book local services such as rental cars, and laundry rooms on two floors for extended-stay guests.

It also will have an expanded fitness center, 40-foot kidney-shaped pool and more than 1,000 square-feet of conference space.

“We’re in the service business, so we’re always thinking about our guests and what they want,” said Fellman.

Located just a few blocks from the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, the hotel also will offer 32 suites, including some with Jacuzzi bathtubs and mini-bars stocked with select liquor that are expected to be a draw for casino guests, Fellman said.

Casino officials have expressed enthusiasm for the project.

“We welcome them to the community and look forward to having them as neighbors,” Seminole Casino president Steve Bonner said. “The community and its guests have wanted a hotel here for a long time.”

City officials agree.

“It will definitely be a great addition,” vice mayor Becky Tooley said Friday. “A lot of people have [visitors] arriving here and now they’ll have a place for that company to stay.”

“This hotel also will be beneficial to visiting sports teams and their families, as well as people and groups going to the [casino], mayor Lisa Aronson added. “We also look forward to the hotel guests spending more time in our city and supporting the local economy.”
