These new hotels will open within the next few months. If you offer a service for the hospitality industry, key contacts at these properties will want to hear your sales pitch now:
Each report provides a detailed profile of the project, including construction schedule, date of the hotel's opening and operation, location, value, name of chain and franchise, number of rooms, latest developments, and key contacts. As of 9/6/11, the development will be eligible for federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, and so the hotel will have to comply with certain restrictions. A representative from the city of Tuscaloosa (AL) stated that the purchase will either be a long-term note or cash. If the developer proceeds with cash, then it goes into the CDBG fund that the city can use for revolving loans for local businesses or any other eligible purpose.
As of 9/6/11, two companies -- Ivory Development Group and Wilson Hotel Management Co -- have submitted proposals for this project in response to the city's bid. A third company has withdrawn their bid and plans to build elsewhere. The developers are scheduled to meet with the City Council on 9/27/11 to formally pitch their ideas for the property. The Wilson group had previously announced that their hotel would be an Embassy Suites, but they have since said that they are still in negotiations for a brand.
