Oct. 26–Sacramento-area motel and hotel operators saw year-over-year improvements in all three major categories in August, according to a new report from CBRE Hotels in San Francisco.

The average daily room rate for area hotels in August was $115.43, up nearly 4.5 percent from $110.56 in August last year. Average revenue per available room was $88.97, up 5.7 percent from $84.18 a year ago.

The area's occupancy rate was 77.1 percent in August, compared with 76.1 percent in August 2015.

Hotel industry analysts say 70 percent occupancy is considered the point at which hotels can comfortably raise rates.
