ATLANTA, June 29, 2016 — Atlanta Marriott Marquis recently revealed its extensive transformation, presenting a completely new experience for today's modern traveler. The $78 million project included redesigned guest rooms and suites that represent the new innovative guest experience that Marriott Hotels is rolling out across North America. The Greatroom features modern enhancements and programs while the hotel's 160,000 square feet of meeting space is tailored to foster collaboration.

The latest modernization to Georgia's largest hotel comes on the heels of a $138 million upgrade in 2008, bringing the total investment into the hotel to more than $216 million in less than ten years.

"We want our guests to experience forward-thinking, aesthetically pleasing spaces that help foster their inventive nature," said Matthew Carroll, vice president, Marriott Hotels. "Marriott Hotels has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation in travel to create spaces and experiences that inspire and seamlessly match our guests' best thinking. The Atlanta Marriott Marquis has delivered exactly that, both in their guest rooms and public space."

New, mid-century modern interiors in each of the property's 1,663 rooms including 94 suites create a consistent aesthetic that now aligns with the hotel's iconic architecture while offering the contemporary conveniences today's travelers crave. The new Marriott guest rooms are designed with a modern, spacious, and elevated look with tailored solutions. Based on consumer insights, locally-inspired accents offer a sense of place, such as the Atlanta skyline. Multi-purpose work surfaces provide flexibility and mobility in the space, allowing guests to work and live in the room the way they want. Smart TVs equipped with streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu give travelers the option to customize their entertainment. A deluxe new bath in king rooms includes walk-in upgraded showers that enhance the bath experience.

"We pride ourselves on being a hotel that helps travelers feel creative, productive and inspired," said Erica Qualls Battey, general manager of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. "The new design features the best of the new Marriott Hotels transformation and allows us to give guests the amenities they need, enabling them to successfully pursue their plans in Atlanta."

The hotel's 94 suites and concierge-level rooms also received a new look including new hardwoods accented by beautiful area rugs throughout each area. The hotel offers more suites than any other hotel in the Atlanta market, providing ample multi-functional space for meetings, interviews, receptions or VIP accommodations with stunning floor-to-ceiling views of the city.

The expansive concierge lounge received technology upgrades and enhanced food and beverage offerings that showcase the Marriott Marquis' award-winning culinary program. The exclusive, relaxed setting, gives guests staying in concierge level accommodations an ideal environment to socialize or work while enjoying complimentary items such as wi-fi, plug-in access for laptops and personal devices and a selection of snacks, soft drinks, coffee, bottled water. In the morning, guests are treated to a selection of freshly prepared breakfast items that are made in-house from scratch using only locally-sourced ingredients. Evening reception hours offer a chance to unwind from the day amidst breathtaking views of the Atlanta skyline.

The transformation has also brought two floors of Stay Well™ rooms to the Marquis, making the property one of six in the Marriott International portfolio to offer this first-of-its-kind concept to enable healthy travel. Designed by wellness real estate and technology firm Delos™, Stay Well rooms offer evidence-based health and wellness features that help optimize guests' health, vitality, happiness and well-being when traveling. The two floors offer technologies, features and programming services exclusive to Stay Well including air purification, circadian lighting, an allergen-free room sanitation process, vitamin C shower infusers as well as aromatherapy to instill a sense of calm, relaxation and overall well-being for guests while away from home. The hotel's award-winning Atlanta Marriott Marquis meeting rooms feature an increase in hotel-wide bandwidth that now offers attendees more bandwidth than any meeting space in Atlanta. Meeting amenities include the signature on-site Red Coats to support guest needs as well as Red Coat Direct, Marriott's Meeting Services Application, giving meeting planners the ability to manage their event with the touch of a button.
