WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dec. 10, 2014 – The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center today announced the appointment of Anthony Arbeeny as general manager of the recently-transformed hotel. Tasked with the reintroduction of the hotel following its impressive $17 million enhancement to business, leisure and meeting delegates, Arbeeny brings more than three decades of culinary, hotelier and hospitality management expertise to this new role. He will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, foodservice, sales and marketing initiatives.

With more than 30 years of tenure with Hyatt Hotels, Arbeeny joins The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center from his most recent role as the general manager of Hyatt Regency Bethesda, and prior, as general manager of Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes.

A Brooklyn native, Arbeeny is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York and holds a degree in Culinary Occupational Studies. Arbeeny was a host Chef of the prestigious James Beard Journalism Award from 2002-2006 and is the recipient of numerous culinary accolades, distinctions and awards including medals in the International Culinary Olympics in Germany, the American Culinary Federation Food Show, the 6th Annual Sebastian Kneip Dietetic Competition. Arbeeny was also distinguished as Chef of the Year in 2000 by Awards of the Americas.
