Madison, Wis., May 14, 2015 – AJ Capital Partners is pleased to announce that on May 14, 2015, Graduate Madison will officially open its doors. Joining Graduate Athens in Georgia and Graduate Tempe in Arizona, the hotel collection targets college markets across America that celebrate each respective town’s culture and history. The 72-room hotel, formerly the Campus Inn, will be ideally located alongside Lake Mendota on historic Langdon Street, adjacent to the popular State Street dining and entertainment area and two blocks from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s campus, including the lively Memorial Union. The hotel will also feature two unique food and beverage concepts: Portage π and The Madison Blind.

Created for travelers who seek memory-making stops, Graduate Hotels are part of a well-curated, thoughtfully crafted collection of hotels that reside in the most unique college towns across the country. Every property celebrates and commemorates the optimistic energy of its community, while offering an extended retreat to places that often played host to the best days of our lives. Additional locations including Charlottesville, Va.; Oxford, Miss. and Richmond, Va. are slated to open over the next year.

“Graduate Madison will bring a different kind of hospitality to Madison. The essence of the Graduate brand is to celebrate the fabric of the town and in Madison there is so much to celebrate,” says Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners. “From its history of social activism to the outstanding natural beauty surrounding the town, Graduate guests will be taken through a journey that will make them feel like locals in this incredible town.”

Portage π, the hotel’s café, will feature coffee, pressed juices, salads and sandwiches, as well as sweet and savory hand pies. Located off the main lobby, Portage ? will house a long communal table made from reclaimed wood providing guests with the perfect place to study, converse with a fellow student or meet a new friend. When it’s time to unwind, guests and locals alike can head to The Madison Blind, Graduate Madison’s rooftop bar and restaurant that will feature sweeping views of the campus, the Capitol and Lake Mendota. The hotel rooftop also features 1,250 feet of flexible meeting and event space available for private functions.

Graduate Madison’s design will be both modern and rustic – a delightful blending of the great outdoors and the warmth and familiarity of home. Intricate special touches and close attention to detail make this hotel stand out among others. Rustic elements such as chandeliers made from canoes and oars, a front desk inspired by a vintage trophy case and classic artwork depicting outdoor life will be balanced by deep navy blue hardwood floors, fabric walls and traditional custom furniture.

“Graduate Madison was designed to reflect its citizen’s active lakeshore lifestyles, the traditions of the University of Wisconsin, its history of civic awareness and the optimism of one of the country’s great cities,” says Andrew Alford, Chief Creative Officer. “The look and feel of Graduate Madison will mix sophisticated textures of herringbones, tweeds and corduroys with rustic elements realized in unexpected ways.”
