MIAMI, FL (October 18, 2000) � Bass Hotels & Resorts [LON:BAS,
NYSE:BAS (ADRs)] and Grupo Real, the hotel operating division of El Salvador-based
Grupo Poma, today announced the opening of the Hotel Inter-Continental
Guatemala. The announcement was made by John Sweetwood, President, The
America, Bass Hotels & Resorts, and Ricardo Poma, Chairman of Grupo
Poma.
It is the seventh Inter-Continental hotel stemming from a commercial
agreement between Bass Hotels & Resorts and Grupo Real.
The Hotel Inter-Continental Guatemala will be the centerpiece of the multi-use complex, which includes an office tower housing national and international corporations, as well as retail and entertainment. The Hotel Inter-Continental Guatemala features one Presidential suite, six Junior suites, 23 business rooms and six rooms for guests with disabilities, along with two Club Inter-Continental floors with private concierge lounge. Technologically, the property offers dataports in all rooms, voice mail, direct international lines, and internet access. Also featured are a fully equipped business center with a private meeting room, multi-lingual staff, secretarial services, translations, copy and fax machines, cellular phone rentals and audio-visual equipment. The business center also includes a meeting room specially designed for video-conferencing. The hotel has 16 modern banquet and conference rooms totaling 1,600 square meters, with availability to accommodate from 10 to 1000 people, as well as 1,000 square meters of commercial retail space. As to dining, the hotel features Le Café de la Paix, the traditional French brasserie founded in Paris in 1862 at the Le Grand Hotel Inter-Continental. It is the renowned restaurant�s first franchise outside of France.
