Jack S. Adler Named President of Loews Hotels
NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2000 - Loews Hotels has announced the promotion of Jack S. Adler, 46, to the position of President, he will continue to hold the title of Chief Operating Officer.  In this role, Adler oversees all the operations of Loews Hotels including finance, development, marketing and administration.  In concert with Adler�s promotion, Jonathan Tisch, 47, who was President of Loews Hotels, will become Chairman and retain the title of Chief Executive Officer.

Adler joined Loews Hotels in 1989 as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration, and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 1997 and then to Chief Operating Officer in 1998.  During his tenure, Adler has been responsible for spearheading the largest expansion in the chain�s 54-year history.  He has overseen more than $1 billion of development of new hotels in Miami Beach, Orlando, and Philadelphia.  Adler has also lead Loews Hotels to win new management contracts, most recently for The Jefferson, a Loews Hotel in Washington, DC.  Additionally, in his role as Chief Operating Officer, Adler successfully initiated programs to streamline operations and create new branding programs for Loews Hotels.

Prior to joining Loews, Adler had been with Lane Industries, Inc. in Chicago where he was Vice President and Treasurer.  Previously, he had been Assistant Treasurer of Bally Manufacturing Corporation.  He holds a graduate degree in Management from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania.

Loews Hotels, a wholly owned subsidiary of Loews Corporation (NYSE: LTR), currently owns and/or operates 16 hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Canada.  As part of the largest expansion in the chain�s 54-year history, the company has recently opened four new properties, with three more in various stages of development.  These include the first ever House of Blues Hotel, a Loews Hotel, a 367-room property located in Chicago�s Marina City that opened in October 1998, and the opening of the 800-room Loews Miami Beach Hotel in December 1998.  And, as part of a joint venture with Universal, Inc. and the Rank Organisation, Loews Hotels opened the first of three hotels located at Universal Orlando.  The 750-room Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, a Loews Hotel, opened in September 1999.  That will be followed by the 650-room Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando, in January 2001, and the 1,000-room Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, a Loews Hotel, in 2003.  Most recently, Loews opened the 585-room Loews Philadelphia Hotel, a conversion of the landmark PSFS building, in April 2000 and assumed management of The Jefferson, a Loews Hotel in Washington, DC.  Boston will also be home to a Loews Hotel, scheduled to open in 2003 is the 390 room Loews Boston Hotel in the city�s theater district.
