The Prince Hotel Group Installing VBN (Visitor Based Network) System Provided by inter-touch
Japan, September 20, 2000 - inter-touch Japan, a subsidiary company of inter-touch Pty Ltd, Australia, a provider of broadband internet services to the hospitality, business and related industries, announced today that its high speed VBN (Visitor Based Network) system, would be introduced into Japans leading hotel chain, the Prince Hotel Group.

VBN enables plug and play connectivity to the Internet in a variety of environments. Many hotels are planning to install this technology to support the rapidly increasing demand from global business travelers. The Wired Room: Hotel Broadband Preference Analysis reported by an American research company, Cahners In-Stat Group, on July 18, 2000 predicts that the sales from Internet connection services and peripheral devices for VBN will increase rapidly from $371 million in 2000 to $2 billion in 2004.

The VBN system provided by inter-touch Japan creates a high speed network environment of 10Mbps in both directions using the leading-edge high speed digital communication technology VDSL (Very high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) through the phone line. The telephone cabling system in the hotel can be used for the network without changing the existing PABX system.

Connecting the service involves installing a network connector with an Ethernet cable in guestrooms, which enable guests to run a web browser after plugging in and switching on their portable computers. Hotel guests can access the Internet from guestrooms and conference rooms with plug and play and without changing any current configuration of computers. If the portable computer doesnt have a network connector, network interface cards are provided for rent at the front desk of hotels.

When hotel guests access this service, the information of the hotel is displayed as a Hotel branded portal page regardless of the users browser setup.
Prince Hotel Group will install this system in 300 rooms (484 rooms in all) of Tokyo Prince by early October 2000 and provide the access to the Internet via NTT Communications. The Group plans to install this system into city hotels such as Akasaka, Roppongi, Takanawa (Sakura tower), Shin-takanawa, Shinagawa, Shinjuku, Sun Shine City, Makuhari, Yokohama, and Yokosuka Prince Hotels in all guestrooms and meeting rooms.

The usage fee will be 1,500 yen per room per day for unlimited access in a 24 hour period, which is added to the guests hotel bill via the Hotels Property Management System.

inter-touch Japan provides customers with a dedicated 24-hour x 7  support (toll-free) supporting multiple languages.
