DALLAS August 22, 2000 - Atef Mankarios, Chairman and President of
Foresthills Hotels and Resorts, announced today that it has partnered with
several Atlanta-based companies for the purchase of the historic Days Inn
Hotel in midtown Atlanta. The agreement was reached between Diversified
Peachtree, Ltd., and a partnership made up of Crow Hospitality Investment
Group of Atlanta, prominent historic and preservation architect Larry Evans
of New Place Companies of Brunswick, Ga and Foresthills Hotels & Resorts
to purchase the historic hotel. The purchase is expected to close
in mid October.
Located on Peachtree opposite the famed Fox Theatre, the hotel originally
opened as "The Carlton" in 1927 and will revert to its original name, undergoing
a major transformation into Atlanta's only small luxury hotel. With
approximately 90 oversized rooms and suites, the hotel will offer a dining
room and a lobby lounge, both featuring the original oak paneling of the
1920's. To be completed in late 2002, the restoration is expected
to cost a total of more than $22 million.
"We could not be more pleased to be part of the
extensive restoration and on-going management of The Carlton which, upon
successful completion, will once again be a major landmark in the city
of Atlanta, said Mankarios.
Ideally located for both business and leisure travelers, the hotel
will offer exemplary personalized service, including butler service on
each floor reminiscent of the old Pullman Car service of the 1920's and
30's. In addition to its guest rooms and suites, the hotel will feature
condominiums on its top three floors ranging in size from 1,200 to 3,000
square feet. The luxury condominiums will allow owners full use of
the hotels elegant facilities and services.
We are extremely lucky to have Foresthills Hotels & Resorts on
board as they are themost experienced group of luxury hotel operators in
the country and will bring a totally unparalleled style of service for
our future guests, said John Crow, President |
