NYSH&TA Names Arrowwood's Jose Lopez
as Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year
Rye Brook, NEW YORK, February 28, 2000 - In a statewide
contest as part of their annual "Stars of the Industry" program, the New
York State Hospitality & Tourism Association (NYSH&TA) recently
selected Doral Arrowwood employee, Jose Lopez, as the "Outstanding Lodging
Employee of the Year."
In a February letter, the NYSH&TA informed Lopez of
his nomination by a judging panel consisting of two New York State news
reporters, two tourism college professors and one tourism college dean.
The letter stated that of all the nominees, Lopez "best exemplified the
qualifications for this award."
A Food Storeroom Clerk at the Westchester County Conference
Resort, Lopez was recognized by the NYSH&TA for his exemplary professionalism
and service in the 300-room + property category. Lopez's nomination for
this prestigious award was submitted by Doral Arrowwood's Director of Human
Resources, Lydia Goldson, after he was honored as the property's "Employee
of the Year" in 1998.
According to Doral Arrowwood's General Manager, Joe Crimmins,
"The entire Doral organization is delighted by Jose Lopez's nomination
for this remarkable award. His success in achieving this honor is indicative
of the exemplary hospitality skills he consistently exhibits on a day-to-day
basis." Crimmins added, "As a property that values service above all else,
Jose is a model employee who is truly deserving of such high esteem and
industry recognition. We are very proud of his accomplishment and wish
him continued success."
A native of San Salvador, El Salvador, Lopez moved to
the United States in 1986 and currently resides in Port Chester, New York.
In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, particularly soccer and volleyball.
Employed as a Food Storeroom Clerk at Doral Arrowwood since 1996, Lopez
is
responsible for maintaining the quality and freshness
of food products. In the near future, he will assume a new role in food
preparation in the property's kitchen.
According to Lopez, the key to his success as a hospitality
employee is the education his parents gave him in conjunction with his
own drive. In regards to his NYSH&TA award, Lopez remarked: "I am very
proud to receive this honor and to work at Doral Arrowwood. I always try
to do my best and I enjoy working there because of the people - they're
like a family to me." |
