YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif., July 5, 2000 - The Ahwahnee hotel in
Yosemite National Park has announced an impressive schedule of California
wineries for its 19th annual Vintners� Holidays program. The acclaimed
series, which begins November 26 and continues through December 14, 2000,
showcases the diversity and excellence of 24 prominent California vintners
such as Silver Oak Wine Cellars, Ferrari-Carano Winery, Duckhorn Vineyards,
and Grgich Hills Cellar.
Grape outdoors lovers will enjoy wine tastings, informative seminars,
panel discussions and an elegant five-course gourmet dinner matched with
wines -- all in the majestic setting of Yosemite�s historic Ahwahnee hotel.
�This is one of the most impressive schedules of wineries ever assembled
in the Vintners� Holidays 19-year history,� notes Larry Ross, The Ahwhanee�s
general manager. �Each session is a celebration of the diverse varietals,
winemaking styles and personalities that have led California to become
a world leader in winemaking.�

Two-night lodging packages are offered for $639 at The Ahwahnee and $320
at Yosemite Lodge. Three-night packages are priced at $839 at The Ahwahnee
and $390 at Yosemite Lodge. All packages include overnight accommodations
for two people, invitations to the �Meet the Vintners� reception and educational
seminars plus two tickets to the gala Vintners banquet. Occupancy
taxes are not included in package prices.
The Ahwahnee Dining Room is renowned for innovative California cuisine
and an award-winning wine list of over 150 wines. Under the direction
of Executive Chef Robert Anderson, the Ahwahnee Dining Room also hosts
the popular Chefs� Holidays program in January and February, which features
leading guest chefs from throughout California.

The Ahwahnee Dining Room
The site of some of the most remarkable culinary events in
thecountry, the Ahwahnee's Dining Room features a 34 foot high ceiling
with large sugar pine trestles that complement the room'sgranite pillars.
Light-filled and uplifting by day, the dining room takes on an intimate
mood for evening meals with tall tapers inwrought iron holders. |
