$3.5 million Complete Transformation |
CHICAGOJULY 20 Swissotel Chicago has unveiled
its $3.5 million ballroom level renovation at the 632-room luxury property
located at 323 E. Wacker Drive, offering one of the most technologically
advanced facilities in the city. The 6,000 square foot Grand Ballroom,
2,500 square foot Alpine Ballroom and four meeting rooms that complement
the space were completely re-designed in a four-month renovation.
Our clients have been surprised with the complete transformation of our ballroom level, said Yoland Perras, Director of Catering. The lighting, the color schemes and technological advances have already earned wide acclaim, while our staff continues to offer our trademark Swiss service, he added. Designed by Puerto Rican architecture firm, Jorge Rossello & Associates, the new facilities offer contemporary style infused with warm colors and accents. Buttery yellow, shades of tropical blues and warm cinnamon color schemes are complemented by rich mahogany wood and matte gold finishes. Four original sculptures by Puerto Rican artist, Luis Torruella, share a common theme: ocean creatures. The dynamic sculptures work together and one can visualize sea horses, jellyfish, corals or even swimming fish through the organic lines of shapes that define its aesthetic language. A spectacular fabric sculpture designed by Puerto-Rican born artist Sandra Golbert, adorns the wall in the ballroom foyer. Her creation, Seasons, features an intricate combination of many fabrics and various techniques of fabric manipulation to harmoniously complement the new interiors. The Ballrooms now offer the most advanced lighting and acoustics systems available, making exceptional spaces for social or business events seating up to 500 guests. Sophisticated black and white Chicago-scape photography graces the walls and small meeting rooms that surround the perimeter of the ballroom level. Satin brass sconces and contemporary lighting fixtures bathe the Grand Ballroom and public spaces in warm light. Lutrons computer-operated light control features allows AV technicians to adjust each light individually or all together to offer events the best possible environment. Fourteen additional anchor points with individual power outlets in the ceilings offer planners even more flexibility for lighting larger productions such as fashion shows, award dinners and product launches. High-speed internet access is available in all ballroom level facilities
quickly and conveniently, with a full-time audio visual department staff
on-site to oversee easy installation. The internet access complements
the PictureTel unit available for video conferencing, and the Swissoffice
Business Centres full service features.
The Swissotel Chicago offers a total of 22,600 square feet of meeting space in 24 rooms, which can be divisible by an additional five rooms. Conveniently located where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan, just steps from the Magnificent Miles famed shopping and entertainment district and Loop businesses. Amenities in the 632 guest rooms and suites include 24-hour room service, the Swissoffice Business Centre, and the Palm Restaurant.
