Casino Player Poll Results
LAS VEGAS, July 11, 2000 - Casino Player magazine recently presented the results of its annual Best of Gaming poll for the year 2000, published in the July issue of the magazine.

Casino Players annual Best of Gaming survey is the highlight of the magazines summer season, identifying readers top choices in a remarkably diverse group of categories, in casinos across the nation.  More than 7,000 Casino Player readers participated in this years survey, naming the best hotels, casinos, restaurants, entertainment and attractions in the following gaming jurisdictions:  Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Laughlin (all in Nevada); Atlantic City, New Jersey; Tunica, Miss. and the Mississippi Gulf Coast; Native American casinos and the casino riverboats in the Midwest.

The survey was mailed directly to subscribers in the February issue of Casino Player and readers responded by mailing and faxing the ballots to Casino Player offices.  The response was overwhelming, says Casino Player Editor-in-Chief Adam Fine.

For the first time, readers enthusiastically recommended casinos in the newer jurisdictions.  We found that our readers had spoken so clearly in certain regions, that we needed to expand the scope of the issue to include their choices, said Fine.  As the gaming industry has expanded, it has matured in ways no one would have thought possible ten years ago.  Many casinos of the Midwest and South now rival their Las Vegas and Atlantic City counterparts in terms of size and diversity of entertainment.  Our readers have clearly identified this trend, and as we saw in this years survey, were quite willing to cast their votes for a favorite local casino.

Casino Player readers pick the winners and the editors analyze the reasons why, spotting trends in the industry.  The winners of the surveys top award, Best Overall Hotel Casino, were as follows:

  • Bellagio (Las Vegas, NV)
  • Harrahs (Atlantic City, NJ)
  • Grand Casino (Tunica, Miss.)
  • Beau Rivage (Miss, Gulf Coast)
  • Harrahs (Laughlin, NV)
  • Silver Legacy (Reno, NV)
  • Harrahs (Lake Tahoe, NV)
  • Foxwoods (Native American category)
  • The Horseshoe in Bossier City, LA (Best riverboat casino).
Of particular importance is the Best Casino category.  Here, readers take into account factors such as ambiance, casino layout, employee friendliness and the mix of slot machines and table games.  Harrahs took top honors in Las Vegas and in Atlantic City, the high-end Grand Victoria in Elgin, Ill., won in the riverboat category, and the enormous Foxwoods, located in rural eastern Connecticut, won in the Native American category.

Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CJPG), the nations largest publisher of gaming information, produces Casino Player, the premier national magazine for the gaming consumer with a total readership of more than 800,000 frequent casino gamblers monthly.
