August 23, 2000 - Northwest Hospitality Group, LLC, a Vancouver, Washington
- based hotel management company, has added to its roster three hotels
that will appeal to a broad spectrum of business and leisure travelers.
Northwest Hospitality Group recently opened and will manage the Holiday
Inn Express & Suites in Vancouver, Washington; in early August signed
a management contract with the Staybridge Suites Hotel in Portland, Oregon
and just completed renovation of the Renaissance Hotel in McAllen, Texas.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Vancouver, Washington
The $5 million project includes 78 rooms, an indoor pool, fitness center,
breakfast room and a meeting room that can accommodate 25 people and is
available for public use. The three-floor, 41,500 square foot hotel features
a stucco exterior, concrete tile roof and Cultured Stone® trim.
Staffing the hotel will be General Manager Jason Williams of Battleground,
Wash., formerly front office manager of Stonebrook Suites, Hillsboro, OR.
The front office manager will be Betsy Brown of Vancouver, formerly front
desk clerk at Patricia Inn, Longview, WA. The director of housekeeping
will be Margaret Graham of Vancouver, formerly assistant director of housing
for the Benson Hotel, Portland.
The project architect is Jerald Morgan, AlA, of Architects Associative,
Vancouver. Columbia Rim Construction, Battleground, Wash., serves as general
contractor with Gabe Duus as project manager.
Diane Shapard, Seattle is the interior designer. The hotel's interior
features an eclectic design with recessed lighting, granite vanities and
showers, traditional cherry furniture and carpet and tile floor coverings. |
Staybridge Suites Hotel in Portland, Oregon
The Staybridge Suites Hotel offers one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio
suites for extended stays. The hotel, which opened in May and is now being
managed by Northwest Hospitality Group, is located near the Portland airport
at 11936 NE Glenn Widing Drive. All 106 suites include a full kitchen,
high speed Internet access and free laundry service. There's also an indoor
pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, fitness center, complementary hot breakfast and
complementary evening social three days a week. |
Renaissance Hotel in McAllen, Texas
For upscale travelers, there's the Renaissance Hotel in McAllen, Texas.
Renaissance is a lodging option of Marriott International. Formerly the
Casa de Palmas Hotel, Northwest Hospitality Group has renovated the Spanish
Colonial style hotel built in 1918. The 165-room hotel is a Texas state
landmark and its stucco exterior is considered one of the most beautiful
in the south Texas area.
"The hotel has been returned to the glory of its past," said Takach.
"We expect this to be a four-star, four-diamond hotel." The just completed
restoration included the addition of a 3,600 square foot ballroom, two
deluxe spa suites and two additional one-bedroom suites. McAllen, Texas,
a city of 85,000 near the Mexican border, is one of the fastest growing
cities in the U.S. |
Company Led by Richard E. Takach, Jr
From a job as a night auditor at a ski lodge in Vail, Colorado to a
position among the top 25 hotel management groups in the United States,
Richard Takach's career is a testament to success in the hospitality industry.
Takach co-founded Northwest Hospitality Group LLC in 1996 after a seven-year
tenure as executive vice president of Dimension Development Co. Inc. of
Natchitoches, LA While at Dimension, Takach oversaw the development of
the company's first hotel and was instrumental in the firm's ascent to
developing and managing more than 30 properties. Takach was responsible
for all aspects of Dimension's operations, with an emphasis on overseeing
profitability of field operations.
Takach created highly effective pre-employment screening programs for
Dimension, as well as training systems for all positions, reducing hourly
turnover by 45 percent and improving gross operating profit by hundreds
of thousands of dollars. In 1994, Takach received the Outstanding Hotel
of the Year award for the Seattle Homewood Suites, and the following year,
four of Dimension's Homewood Suites properties achieved top ten rankings
in TQI by the PROMUS Companies.
Prior to joining Dimension, Takach worked at Southeast Properties of
Bethesda, Maryland as a regional manager of 11 Residence Inns. Under his
direction, the extended- stay hotels increased in profitability by $1.63
million.
