Kelco/FB Tallahassee, LLC Breaks Ground on
Homewood Suites in Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Aug. 8, 2000--Homewood Suites by Hilton, the national chain of all-suite, residential-style hotels targeting extended-stay travelers, today announced that it has broken ground on the 94-suite Tallahassee Homewood Suites by Hilton in Florida.  The franchised hotel is owned by Kelco/FB Tallahassee, LLC.  The property is expected to open in late summer 2001.

The need for hotels that cater to guests staying five or more consecutive nights greatly exceeds the available supply, said Kelly Spillett Slay, Kelco executive vice-president.  Our new facility is being created specifically to meet the special needs of travelers who stay at a property for extended amounts of time.  We will offer spacious, residential-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate sleeping and living areas that are large enough for work, study, entertaining or relaxing.

Homewood Suites by Hilton hotels have a home-like atmosphere that appeals to business travelers who stay for a few nights or a few weeks, as well as families vacationing with children and weekend travelers seeking a get-away retreat. Guests enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet in the propertys hospitality center--the Lodge, an evening managers reception Monday through Thursday with complimentary light meal and beverages, an executive business center, exercise facilities and a convenience store.

Located at 2987 Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee, Fla., the five-story hotel will be within minutes of Florida State University, Governors Square Mall, the state capital and numerous government offices.  Hotel amenities will include an outdoor pool, exercise room, whirlpool, sport court, executive business center, picnic area and approximately 4,000 square feet of meeting space.

Launched in 1989, Homewood Suites hotels target guests staying five nights or more who prefer high-quality, residential-style, all-suite lodging for a price comparable to a stay at a traditional hotel.  Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen, featuring a microwave oven, refrigerator with ice-maker and twin-burner stove with all the necessary pots, pans and utensils.  Additionally, suites contain two remote-controlled televisions, videocassette recorders, ceiling fans, iron/ironing board, two telephones with data ports and free local calls.

Homewood Suites by Hilton is a part of Hilton Hotels Corporation, recognized internationally as a preeminent hospitality company.
