Malaysia, August 18, 2000 - inter-touch Pty
Ltd, the leading provider of broadband services to the hospitality, business
and related industries to Malaysia and the world, announced today that
it has secured a deal to provide the Mercure Ace hotel in Johor Bahru with
Ethernet-based high-speed Internet access. Part of the Accor Asia
Pacific Group of hotels, Mercure Ace will be the first hotel in Johor Bahru
to offer Internet access to its guests and the sixth hotel of the Accor
group to tie-up with inter-touch in Asia Pacific.
Under the contract, inter-touch will provide the IT infrastructure and cabling to wire up 109 guest rooms and three meeting rooms in the Mercure Ace. With this deal, inter-touch reinforces its winning position in Malaysia with 13 hotels, translating into 4,000 hotel rooms, being powered by its Ethernet solution. Slated to go live today, Mercure Ace will be geared to provide state-of-the-art broadband facilities to their guests. With the installation of inter-touch�s ethernet solution, the hotel will have the infrastructure to provide more than just high-speed Internet access. They will have the means to provide value-added services such as video-on-demand and video conferencing in the future. They do not need a telephone line, modem, Internet Service Provider, special software or new computer settings. inter-touch�s technological solution will enable a high-speed, convenient and easy-to-use connection to the Internet. 6,662 hotel rooms throughout Asia are currently online with inter-touch, with a further 11,000 rooms currently under contract to be installed.
