with Opening of Ibis Sydney Airport; the First of the Ibis 2003 Hotels to Open Outside Europe |
7 Aug 2000 - A new 200 room Ibis will open at
Sydney Airport on the corner of ORiordan and King Streets, Mascot on September
1 2000 as the first of the new Ibis 2003 hotels to open outside Europe.
As Sydneys final hotel opening before the Olympic Games, the new Ibis 2003 concept is based on providing a uniform product, with identical rooms, similar facilities and genuine value rates. The Australian design will be similar to Ibis 2003 hotels opened recently in London and Berlin. Located only minutes from Sydneys domestic and international airports, the three star Ibis Sydney Airport will attract travellers from regional areas flying out of Sydney, the drive market holidaying in New South Wales, those visiting friends and relatives and corporate travellers looking for the basic essentials of best price and a good nights sleep. To ensure we offer true value to the customer and a rate structure
thats easily understood, Ibis hotels now offer a competitive room-only
price that is available all year round. With the exception of peak times
where a special event rate is applicable, guests know exactly what their
room costs even before they book. Such transparency of rates is a crucial
feature of Ibis hotels, and has proved universally popular with travellers
who do not understand the myriad of rates that apply at hotels, said Ibis
Sydney Airport General Manager, Maria Cary.
In addition there are valuable extras for guests, such as self-serve laundries, limited free parking and a free airport shuttle bus service. In room facilities include television, voicemail, movielink, air-conditioning and tea/coffee, and three of the six floors are non-smoking. Disabled accommodation is also available. Australia joins countries such as the UK, Germany, France and Spain in the roll-out of Ibis 2003. In Australia, an Ibis 2003 is planned for Newcastle, and the Ibis network will grow to some 10 hotels by 2002. The Sydney Airport area is an ideal place to launch the new Ibis as the area does not have any international 3-star accommodation and the area has grown rapidly both in airport-related services and other industrial and commercial business, concluded Ms Cary. With 550 Ibis hotels worldwide, there are currently five Ibis Hotels in Australia including the landmark Ibis hotel at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush Bay. Ibis hotels are managed by Accor, the worlds largest hotel and tourism company, operating in 140 countries around the world. |
