Dave Shaw, Jr. will serve as Director of Franchise Resources for Best Inns & Suites; Christy Williams will become Director of Field Support for the separate Microtel and Best divisions, and Faye Deloso will be Director of Field Support for Hawthorn.  As previously announced, the department is headed by 18-year hospitality veteran Teri Fox, Vice President of Franchise Support.

These promotions are part of our continuing efforts to fully support USFS increasing numbers of Microtel, Hawthorn and Best properties.  We are fortunate to have such talented and accomplished operations directors, said Roy Flora, Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations for USFS.

Shaw has been with USFS since its inception in 1995, beginning in the Design and Construction Department. Most recently, he was a Franchise Resource Manager for Best Inns & Suites, involved in all aspects of the brand, including the installation of Bests new EverGreen rooms.  In his new position, Shaw will handle such Atlanta-based services as facilitating hotel openings and finding financing opportunities for franchisees.  A native of Exeter, N.H., he received his bachelors degree in architecture from Southern College of Technology in Atlanta, Ga.

In her new position, Williams will handle field-based operations and be responsible for upgrading the delivery of on-site services for both the Microtel and Best brands.  Prior to joining USFS, Williams worked for such hotel chains as Holiday Inn and Econo Lodge, as well as several independent properties throughout western North Carolina.  Williams received her bachelors degree in business administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.

Deloso joined USFS in 1998 as the first Field Operations Manager for Hawthorn.   With over eight years of on-site extended-stay experience, she will head up Hawthorns field-based operations and work with other Hawthorn Operations Managers to provide enhanced on-site services.  Deloso received her bachelors degree in hotel and restaurant administration from the University of the Philippines in Manila.

Microtel Inn & Suites is a chain of all newly-constructed, budget/economy hotels.  Hawthorn is a predominately upscale, extended-stay chain, and Best Inns & Suites is a mid-market brand.  As of March 31, 2000, there were 246 Microtel, 150 Hawthorn and 153 Best properties open or under construction
