The MBA Class of 1999 from the Institut de Management Hôtelier International Enjoyed Job Placement
with 15% Salary Progression
Richard Edelstein New Director
Cergy-Pontoise   6th  April 2000 - IMHI graduates MBA (class of 1999) Hospitality Management joined the global ranks taking a variety of positions with an average salary level 15 % higher than a year ago.

The majority (50 %) found employment opportunities in the hospitality sectors with Accor and Radisson SAS being the top employers this year. The number entering consulting has increased (yet) again with HVS International hiring IMHI graduates for the 5th consecutive year, and companies such as Arthur Andersen, Tokyo and KPMG Hospitality, Paris hiring graduates for the first time. The leisure industry, notably Disneyland Paris, also employed several 1999 IMHI graduates.

Although Europe maintained its top position, the placement of IMHI graduates significantly increased in North and South America (23 % of the class of 1999 are working in this region of the world). There has also been an increase in the number working in the Asia-Pacific region, indicating that the economic and political conditions (hindrances to employment development in hospitality last year) have become less critical to the job market.

The average entry level salary of IMHI graduates was 33 414 EUR ranging from 18 300 EUR to  57 874 EUR . This represents an increase of 15% compared to 1998, which can be explained by the higher compensation levels in Europe and the Americas, by the increasing number of graduates working for consulting companies and increased number working in finance or audit positions.

The significant rise in salary level may also be due to the fact that 1999 graduates were the first class to be awarded a Master in Business Administration (MBA).

The class of 1999 were on average 25 years old and an average professional experience of 3 years prior to IMHI. 45 % of them were international students representing 15 different nationalities.
