Four Seasons Resort Nevis to Reopen in November 2000; Robert Whitfield Named General Manager
NEVIS, West Indies, May 8, 2000 - Recipient of numerous awards and accolades including the first AAA Five Diamond award in the Caribbean, Four Seasons Resort Nevis will offer an array of new amenities and services when the property reopens on November 24, 2000. On completion of the significant refurbishment project currently underway, new features will include two infinity edge swimming pools, a redesigned Cabana restaurant and beach bar, entertainment options for young adults, a business center, an additional conference room, and fresh decor in public spaces and guest rooms.

We are looking forward to welcoming guests back to the renewed, revamped Four Seasons Resort Nevis that will surpass the level of service that we have already set as the luxury standard in the Caribbean. Our closure following Hurricane Lenny afforded us the opportunity to assess the needs of our guests and take travel trends into account when deciding how to redesign and enhance the property, said Robert Whitfield, general manager. Whitfield, who has been with the Resort since April 1998, was recently promoted from the position of resort manager.

At reopening, the Resort will feature two spectacular new free-form swimming pools with stunning infinity edges, and substantially increased deck space for tanning. As guests lounge, the staff will continue the Resorts traditions of Evian spritzing and constant towel replacement for total comfort. Also poolside, the Cabana restaurant overlooking the beach and ocean will be completely redesigned; while it will continue to serve lunch, cocktails and dinner, it also will feature a separate beach bar for the first time. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy teeing off on the fully rested Robert Trent Jones II course, which will be in immaculate condition due to extensive maintenance, and playing on the resurfaced Peter Burwash International tennis courts.

To meet the needs of families choosing Nevis for their vacations, the Resort is adding a young adult entertainment center with suitable activities for teens and pre-teens, including Nintendo stations, billiards and foosball. The redesigned Kids Club for the younger set will be doubled in size, offering new and exciting play-and-learn opportunities and a warm Nevisian sense of place.

For meeting and incentive groups and business-conscious travelers, the Resort is adding a fully equipped business center to feature computers with high-speed Internet access, and installing dual-line phones in each guest room. A new 800-square-foot conference room will be added to the propertys existing meeting space, bringing the total conference facilities to nearly 9,000 square feet.

The original interior designer of the Resort, Frank Nicholson, will lend his creative talent to the refurbishment project.  The decor in the lower-level guestrooms will be enhanced with beautiful stone tiles, a warm new Caribbean color scheme and classic mahogany furnishings, in keeping with the Resorts signature style of understated colonial elegance. Public spaces at the property will be refreshed with new design and landscaping.  The Resort also will offer improved service following its reopening. Many employees are temporarily working for other Four Seasons properties around the globe. For many of them, this is their first posting outside of Nevis. Were truly looking forward to welcoming our staff back to work with the valuable new perspective they will have gained from their experience abroad, said Whitfield.

Located beachfront on the Caribbean island of Nevis, Four Seasons Resort Nevis features 196 spacious rooms housed in 12 private cottages.
