City General Manager - Amsterdam

Mr. Han Oldenburger, until recent General Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Düsseldorf has been appointed City General Manager of our two hotels in Amsterdam, Radisson SAS Hotel and Radisson SAS Hotel Amsterdam Airport, effective 3 April 2000. He replaces Mr. Jan Poul Nijenbandring de Boer who was appointed General Manager of the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel in London. 

Mr. Oldenburger, Dutch, comes with extensive hospitality and cultural experience as General Manager from Singapore in the south to Copenhagen in the North. He joined Radisson SAS in 1991 in Amsterdam and has contributed to the company�s growth and success in Copenhagen, Wiesbaden and Düsseldorf.

Mr. George Balassis, Greek/Belgian, replaces Ms. Susanne Hazenberg, who has moved to Dublin, Ireland to take up the position of General Manager at the Radisson SAS St. Helen�s Hotel. Mr. Balassis comes from the position as Executive Assistant Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Brussels � a position he has held since March 1999.
Mr. Balassis started his career with Hilton International and joined Radisson SAS during the opening of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Brussels in 1989 in the accounting department and later as Assistant Financial Controller and Financial Controller. 

Mr. Balassis was acting General Manager of the Radisson SAS Montfleury Hotel in Cannes during the take-over in November 1998 until March 1999. 

Düsseldorf,Germany

General Manager � Radisson SAS Hotel, Düsseldorf/Regional Director Germany

Mr. Wolfgang Wagner is appointed General Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Düsseldorf, effective 3 April 2000. Mr. Wagner is also the Regional Director Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Poland. Mr. Wagner replaces Mr. Oldenburger, who moved to Amsterdam to take up the position of City General Manager for the two Radisson SAS hotels, based downtown.

Mr. Wagner (German) comes with broad experience from numerous managerial positions in countries such as Germany, England, Switzerland, Austria and Singapore. Mr. Wagner started his career from Commis de Cuisine to Saucier, Gardemanger, Chief Steward to Director of Food and Beverage and General Manager. Mr. Wagner joined Radisson SAS in 1993 as Executive Assistant Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Hamburg. He became General Manager of the same hotel in May 1994 and was appointed General Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin in January 1996.

Mr. Maarten van den Nieuwenhuysen, Dutch, comes from the position as Executive Assistant Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Amsterdam. He replaces Wolfgang Wagner who moved to Dusseldorf.

Following The Hague Hotel school, he started his career with Inter-Continental Hotel Luxembourg from Front Office Clerk to Night Manager. In 1991, he was the Assistant Manager of the Inter-Continental Hotel Cologne, which later became SAS Royal Hotel. He continued his career with Radisson SAS as Front Office Manager and Food and Beverage Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Düsseldorf, Front Office Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel Jumeira Beach in Dubai as part of the pre-opening and opening team. During his time in Dubai, he was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager. He was part of the pre-opening task force of the Radisson SAS St. Helen�s Hotel in Dublin and has since August 1998 held the position as Executive Assistant Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Amsterdam. Besides Dutch, Mr. van den Nieuwenhuysen speaks German, English and French.

Mr. Jørgen Rathjen, Danish, comes from the position as General Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Szczecin, a position he has held since July1998.  Mr. Rathjen succeeds Mr. Christian Gartmann, whose new appointment will be announced soon. 

Mr. Rathjen joined Radisson SAS in 1973 and has held a number of managerial positions in Food and Beverage, Operations and General Management. He gained experience from our hotels in Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait where he was the Executive Assistant Manager in 1988-1990. In Copenhagen, he was the General Manager of the Radisson SAS Globetrotter Hotel from 1990-1995 and General Manager of the Radisson SAS Falconer Hotel from 1995-1998.

Mr. Jürgen Preiss was Hotel Manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel Hamburg since Sept. �99. 

Mr. Preiss, German, started his career in the hospitality industry in 1981 as Assistant to the General Manager of the Steigenberger Hotel in Frankfurt am Main. In 1984, he moved to South Africa as Banquet Assistant at Sun City Hotels. In 1985 he returned to Hannover, Germany to become the Food and Beverage Manager of the Holiday Inn Hotel. As from 1989, he held General Manager positions in different hotels; the Scandic Ludwigburg Hotel, the Blue Band Hotel in Berlin, the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza Hotel in Merseburg, which later was acquired by Radisson SAS in February 1996. 

Dublin, Ireland

Ms. Susanne Hazenberg, effective 10 April 2000. 
Ms. Hazenberg replaces Ms. Carew who took up the position of Executive Assistant Manager at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Brussels.

Following her education as �Hotelfachfrau�, Ms. Hazenberg (German) achieved experience from numerous first class brands such as Inter-Continental, Arabella Hotels, EuroDisney, Conrad International, Metropolitan and Sheraton in managerial positions such as Front Office Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Rooms Division Manager, Director of Housekeeping and Director of Rooms. Ms. Hazenberg has experienced several openings in various locations and as an international hotelière she has worked in Germany, France, Belgium, Dubai, Bangkok, China and The Netherlands. Ms. Hazenberg joined Radisson SAS in February 1999 as Hotel Manager to open the Radisson SAS Hotel Amsterdam Airport. In addition to her mother tongue German, she speaks English and French.

Ms. Aileesh Carew replaces Ms. George Balassis, who has moved to Amsterdam to take up the position of General Manager for the Radisson SAS Hotel Amsterdam Airport.

Ms. Carew, Irish, joined Radisson SAS in July 1998 as General Manager of the Radisson SAS St. Helen�s Hotel in Dublin. Prior to this, Ms. Carew started her early management career with Principal Hotels in England.  She spent a year at the Royal Park Hotel as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and was subsequently promoted to Deputy Manager at the company�s hotel in Scarborough. Ms. Carew took up her first General Management appointment at Dalhouise Castle Edinburgh at the age of 25. She later became the General Manager of the Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh. She transferred as General Manager to the Hotel La Residencia (member of Relais and Chateaux) in Mallorca, Spain in 1994. She returned to Ireland in June 1997 to open The Morgan, a boutique style hotel in Dublin�s cultural centre, Temple Bar. 

Ms. Carew holds an Honours Diploma in Hotel Management from the Shannon College of Hotel Management Ireland and a Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Ms. Carew speaks Spanish and French in addition to her mother tongue English. 

Ålesund, Norway

General Manager � Radisson SAS Hotel, Ålesund 
 

Ms. Nina Askvik came from the position of Operations Manager at the Radisson SAS Royal Garden Hotel, Trondheim, responsible for rooms division and conference and banqueting, which she held since spring 1999.

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts recently signed an agreement for the operation of a hotel in Jugendbyen, Ålesund. This first-class full service hotel is expected to open in August 2000 and will have 131 well equipped guest rooms and suites, as well as meeting and conference facilities for up to 350 people, an all day restaurant and a lobby lounge/bar. 

Ms. Askvik, Norwegian, is a graduate from the Norwegian Hotel Management School. Following her graduation, she held various positions such as Waitress, Head Waitress, Receptionist, Restaurant Manager and Executive Housekeeper at the famous Solstrand Fjord Hotel. During the Olympic Games in Norway in 1993, Ms. Askvik worked for Partena Cater A/S in Lillehammer as Executive Housekeeper and Receptionist dealing with some 2000 participants and press. In 1994-96 she was the Operations Manager of the Svalbard Polar Hotel. In 1996-97 she and her partner were the General Managers of Quality Vestlia Hotel, Geilo. In 1998 they both moved as General Managers to Håholmen Havstuer A/S. 

Oslo, Norway

Mr. Olav Brommeland succeeds Mr. Benamar Mohamed, who moved to Istanbul, Turkey, to take up the position of General Manager for the Radisson SAS Conference & Airport Hotel.

Mr. Brommeland, who is Norwegian, joined Radisson SAS in 1982 as Service Manager of the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Bergen. He held the position as Assistant Front Office Manager and Sales Manager of the same hotel until he was appointed Sales Manager, Region Norway, based in Oslo in 1988-93. In 1993-95 he was the Director of Sales and Marketing of the Radisson SAS Park Hotel in Oslo. In 1995 � 98 he was the Director of Sales and Marketing of the Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel in Oslo until he became City Director of Sales, Oslo in 1998. 

Mr. Brommeland is also a graduate of the Norwegian Hotel Management School.

Istanbul, Turkey

General Manager � Radisson SAS Conference & Airport Hotel in Istanbul
 

Mr. Mohamed Benamar, effective 20 March 2000. He succeeds Mr. Philippe Pellaud, who moved to Sophia, Bulgaria, to take up the position of General Manager for the Radisson SAS Grand Hotel.

Mr. Benamar, Moroccan/Norwegian, joined Radisson SAS in 1975 as waiter in the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo. He progressed through various managerial positions in the same hotel until 1989 when he became part of the opening team of the biggest hotel in our company, Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel in Oslo. He held positions such as Convention Manager, Convention and Food and Beverage Manager, Operations Manager and Executive Assistant Manager. Mr. Benamar was appointed Hotel Manager of the Radisson SAS Park Hotel in Oslo in 1997 � a position he has held until today. Mr. Benamar speaks Norwegian, Arabic, French and English.

Sofia, Bulgaria

General Manager � Radisson SAS Grand Hotel Sofia
 

Mr. Philippe Pellaud, effective 1 April 2000. 

The recently announced Radisson SAS Grand Hotel Sofia is superbly located in the very centre of the city. The hotel was built in 1969 and is now in the process of being completely renovated. There will be 140 guestrooms, an all-day restaurant, café, bar, conference and meeting rooms, a fitness area, etc. It is planned to open the hotel by the end of 2000.
