  Pennsylvania¹s Hospitality and Tourism Industry to Focus on Labor Issues at Annual Conference
Partnering in Pennsylvania: Hospitality 2000
Harrisburg, PA (April 5, 2000)  Pennsylvania's Hospitality and Tourism Industry will face many challenges in the new century. One of the most pressing issues that will face the industry is continually shrinking labor resources. Employment issues will be the focus of this year¹s conference.

Topics will be discussed that will position hospitality and tourism to prevail in the highly competitive market. Also, for the first time ever, the industry will partner with state government for hospitality and tourism education. The conference is scheduled for May 2-4, at the Radisson Hotel Pittsburgh.

The numerous educational workshops that have been scheduled include 

  • Turning Around Turnover - How to Keep the Best Employees; 
  • Empowering Your Employees;
  • How to Manage and Motivate the Under 30 Workforce; 
  • Employment Wage and Hour Issues and much more!
An Industry Leader¹s Panel, moderated by Anthony Marshall, CEO of The Educational Institute will also discuss employment issues and how they are being addressed by the industry. Panelists will include Robert Slater, president of Southern Hospitality and chairman of the American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA), Steven Belmonte, president and CEO of Ramada Franchise Systems, Buggsi Patel, CEO of Buggsi Hospitality Group and Chairman of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), and Sue Geurs, vice president of hotels and resorts for the Carlson Companies.

Chip Bell, renowned expert on Customer Service, Partnering and Mentoring will deliver the Keynote Speech.

The trade show will offer attendees over fifty vendors who will be exhibiting the latest products and services that are currently available to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.

The Pennsylvania Travel Council is a private, non-profit, membership based association representing the hospitality and tourism industry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Committed to the unification of the industry, the Council provides operational, educational, and communication services, plus governmental affairs representation, to the industry.
