Lakeway Inn, Owned by Lend Lease Real Estate Investments
and Managed by Dolce International, Completes
$20+ million Expansion and Renovation
AUSTIN, TEXAS (MARCH 28, 2000). Lakeway Inn, a deluxe conference resort owned by Lend Lease Real Estate Investments and managed by Dolce International, has just completed a two-year, $20+ million expansion and renovation. The resort has grown to 239 guestrooms and suites with over 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Overlooking Lake Travis, the newly constructed Hillside Building is the centerpiece of the resort and boasts the majority of new guest rooms as well as a full-service fitness center, the Rio Grande Ballroom, and the new lobby.  It also houses Vistas, a new lobby bar aptly named for its panoramic views of Lake Travis.

Says Lakeway Inn General Manager Toby June, With an influx of prosperous new high-tech companies, the opening of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport last Spring, and a thriving arts and music scene, Austin is amidst an exciting period in its business and cultural development. As awareness of this great capital city continues to rise internationally, we are confident that the new Lakeway Inn will provide the finest resort setting in Austin for either business or pleasure.

Adds Dolce International Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Dolce, Having managed Lakeway Inn, our first property, since 1985, we are delighted to see our dreams of expansion come to fruition. In addition to enabling us to compete for larger meetings, the expansion enhanced both conference technology and resort amenities dramatically. Lakeway Inn is now positioned with the finest deluxe conference resorts in the country.

The $20+ million project was spearheaded by Dallas-based interior designer Deborah Lloyd Forrest and Antonio Flamenco, AIA of EDI Architecture, Inc. in association with Kendall/Heaton Associates of Houston. In keeping with the style of the existing Travis building, the new Hillside building boasts a limestone exterior indicative of the area. Explains Director of Sales and Marketing Teresa White, The rich natural surroundings of the Texas Hill Country played a vital role in the entire renovation and expansion project. Lake Travis was used as a focal point and is visible throughout the resort. Both Vistas Bar and the majority of our guest rooms and suites feature stunning lake views. Hill Country wildlife is also celebrated in whimsical fabrics colored in rich greens, golds and coppers. Use of indigenous woods and limestone throughout create a warm, casual elegance.

Paramount in the expansion of Lakeway Inn was an enhancement of the meeting experience. Three new meeting rooms and six breakout rooms were added growing the resorts dedicated conference space to over 20,000 square feet. Continues General Manager Toby June, We also greatly enhanced our communications technology by adding dual dataport access in all 239 guest rooms and have constructed a full-service business center complete with computer work station and Internet access. Improvements for 2000 include the addition of high-speed Internet access in all meeting rooms and guest rooms as well as access to a mobile videoconferencing unit.

At the Lakeway resort activities are plentiful. Fifty-four holes of golf including the Jack Nicklaus-designed Academy of Golf are within five minutes of the property as is the 32-court World of Tennis. Unique to Lakeway is a full-service marina offering fishing, sailing, powerboats, party boats, water skis, waverunners and cocktail dinner cruises for up to 250 passengers. The expansion project added a second resort pool overlooking Lake Travis and a well-appointed fitness facility. Spa amenities including massages, facials, hydrotherapy, manicures, pedicures, Vichy shower and mud bath treatments are also available.

The existing Travis building was also fully renovated and features the new Travis Restaurant and Bar. Panoramic lake views set the stage for the New Hill Country cuisine of Chef Chris Tomboni, formerly of the five-star French Room at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas. The Travis Restaurant also features dining al fresco on the terrace.

Just 20 minutes from downtown Austin, Lakeway Inn is an award-winning conference resort managed by Dolce International, the global leader in learning through meetings and leisure. It is part of a growing portfolio of conference hotels, conference resorts and private/corporate centers in the United States Canada and Europe.
