174-room Marriott Residence Inn in Irvine, CA to be Managed by Marriott |
IRVINE, CALIF. - March 21, 2000 - R. D. Olson
Development Will develop 4.38 acres of prime Irvine property owned by Main
Street Hotels, into a 174-room Marriott Residence Inn. While Marriott International
will manage the hotel, Bob Olson will retain ownership under the Main Street
Hotels name.
This is the third hotel R. D. Olson Development will build in Orange County this year. Located across from Jamboree Center at 2855 Main Street, Irvine, the eight-story extended-stay hotel will offer studio and one- and two-bedroom suites. In catering to the corporate traveler staying an average of five to 10 days, each suite will have a kitchen and Internet access. R. D. Olson Development will also build a full-service upscale restaurant adjacent to the hotel for guest use. The company is currently accepting proposals from restaurateurs in anticipation of opening the restaurant at the same time as the hotel. �The Marriott Residence Inn will be a welcomed place for business travelers to enjoy many of the comforts of home,� said Bob Olson, president, R. D. Olson Development. R. D Olson Construction, specialists in building hotels, restaurants
and office com-plexes, recently was awarded the contract to build the new
Marriott Residence Inn. The $21 million project will include meeting rooms,
and a fitness center and swimming pool. Building will begin April 12, creating
approximately 350 construction jobs. The construction company has also
been contracted to build the restaurant.
R. D. Olson Development President Bob Olson has developed properties throughout the country including Pacific View Corporate Center, San Clemente; Los Angeles County Exposition Center, Los Angeles; and Sandy Ridge Polo Field, Las Vegas. In 1998, he founded R. D. Olson Development and has since begun work on the Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn in Anaheim and the Marriott Residence Inn, Irvine.
