GM Christian Coffin Leading the Doubletree Wilmington Hotel Through $10 Million Renovation

WILMINGTON, Del. -- January 5, 2000 - The Doubletree Wilmington Hotel announced today a major renovation in excess of $10 million, including the addition of 90 new guest rooms. When finished, the number of rooms will total 244. A new pool and fully equipped heath club will also be added to the property.

Weve made a major commitment to bringing this hotel up to the highest standards expected by todays business travelers, said General Manager Christian Coffin.

All rooms in the hotel have been renovated and upgraded with new case goods and in-room amenities, such as coffee service and irons. Two 2-line phones, data-ports, and individual temperature controls complete the refurbishment.

The hotels traditional decor has been updatedbut not eliminatedfor a more contemporary appearance. Weve intentionally retained some elements of the former colonial styling, notes Kathy Kessler of the Interspace Design Group, who supervised renovation of the rooms. But the overall look is much more modern looking.

A newly redesigned lobby and restaurant continue the contemporary updating of the hotels general appearance. The restaurant, renamed Palettes, will feature a new menu as well.

The full scope of the renovation should appeal to business and leisure travelers alike, said Doubletree Regional Vice-President, Ben Fusco.

The last phase of the renovation, including changes to the facade and new landscape treatments, is scheduled to be completed in the spring. The bulk of the interior changes should be completed in January. General Manager Christian Coffin has scheduled a Grand Opening party for February 10, 2000.

Doubletree Hotels are part of Hilton Hotels Corporation, based in Beverly Hills, Calif.
