DENVER December 23, 1999 - Destination Hotels & Resorts,
manager of 22 independent, luxury hotels and resorts nationwide, recently
recruited Brian Windle to lead the companys co-branding efforts as Senior
Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
From 1998 to 1999, Windle was vice president of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, responsible for the successful launch and management of the W brand of hotels in the United States. Brian Windle will add significant depth to Destination Hotels & Resorts co-brand marketing efforts, said Charles Peck, president and COO of Destination Hotels & Resorts. The addition of someone of Brians caliber to our team realizes our plan to unite our distinctive properties under a solid, recognizable corporate name. His success with W positions him well to make Destination Hotels & Resorts the leading group of luxury, independent hotels. With the addition of Brian Windle to the senior executive team, Destination
Hotels & Resorts will focus significant resources on building a co-brand
awareness for its portfolio of landmark hotels and resorts in the U.S.
while continuing to support the individual identities of each of its properties.
His responsibilities begin with market research, the organization brand
architecture and the strategic positioning of the companys hotels and
resorts.
In addition to building the DH&R co-brand, Windle will be responsible for providing marketing and sales support to the companys development group as it launches into new hotel construction. To date, the company has focused on renovation and repositioning of existing hotels and resorts. Windle also will focus on identifying cooperative marketing opportunities with DH&Rs sister company Destination Europe Limited, which manages three of the most highly rated hotels in the U.K., as well as alliances with other outside partners. Windle brings an exceptional background to DH&R, most recently with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and the hot new W brand. Prior to this, he was the director of sales and marketing for 29 Westin Resorts throughout the world. His earlier experience includes sales, marketing and operations responsibilities at the Mauna Kea, the St. Francis in San Francisco, and the Aspen Ski Corp. Windle has a management degree from San Diego State University, and has relocated to the Denver area. Destination Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Lowe Enterprises, manages 22 independent, luxury hotels and resorts nationwide featuring three full service spas, 10 golf courses and more than 6,000 guestrooms. The companys successful management philosophy emphasizes local management of its hotels and resorts and supports investing in the on-site management team and staff who run the properties as independent hotels. Each distinctive, well-situated Destination Hotels & Resorts property offers exceptional recreational opportunities and conference facilities. Properties include the Hotel del Coronado near San Diego; the Royal Palms Hotel & Casitas in Phoenix; the Eden Roc Resort & Spa in Miami Beach; The Argent Hotel in San Francisco; and The Monarch Hotel in Washington, D.C. |
