Vice President Tom Cantone never imagined that the formula for nights of
live, free entertainment and dance at Foxwoods Resort Casino would lead
to national recognition. “Seven years ago, the Cinedrome opened as
a high-tech disco featuring videos and recorded music,” said Cantone from
his office overlooking Foxwoods’ Theater District. “We wanted to introduce
a personality by booking famous recording stars that our guests could get
close to and also relate to when they were growing up.”
The result is a high-energy nightclub/dance club that was named “The
Best Dance Club of 1999” by Nightclub Bar magazine, a trade publication
that provides industry information for nightclub, bar and restaurant owners.
The magazine also produces a popular nightclub awards issue and an industry
trade show held annually in Las Vegas. Last year, Walt Disney World’s “Mannequin’s”
on Pleasure Island was selected Best Dance Club in America.

“We’re in some pretty good company,” said Cantone, who attributes much
of the success of the Cinedrome Nite Club to the management team and employees
that run it and their constant drive to reinvent it. “We really want to
keep a hands-on touch. We’ve debuted over 75 major recording stars representing
over 150 hit records. As a result, MTV, USA Today, and CNBC have featured
the Cinedrome nationally.” The Cinedrome has recently hosted impressive
acts such as Guess Who, Jodi Watley, 10,000 Maniacs, Mya, the Turtles,
Ike Turner and Jan and Dean. Cinedrome also features theme nights that
include Salsa Nights on Thursdays, Hot Country Nights on Tuesdays and Swing
Dance Sundays.
The December 1999 issue of Casino Player magazine named Foxwoods one
of the “Best Resort Casinos of the Millennium” for the quality and variety
of its services and amenities. With nearly 6,000 slot machines and 350
table games, Foxwoods Resort Casino offers gaming in a relaxing atmosphere,
live entertainment with headliners from around the world, and fine dining
at Mashantucket, the ancestral home of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. |
