Jeffrey T. Winslow Named Executive VP
and Chief Information Officer at
Accor Economy Lodging

DALLAS - Sept. 24, 1999 - Georges Le Mener, president and chief operating officer of Accor Economy Lodging, the nations largest owner and operator of economy lodging properties, today announced the appointment of Jeffrey T. Winslow to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Previously, Winslow served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Red Roof Inns, which was acquired by AELs parent company, Paris-based Accor S.A., in August. Accor Economy Lodging now operates the Red Roof Inns, Motel 6 and Studio 6 lodging brands.

In his new position, Winslow will be responsible for all of the management information systems for the divisions three proprietary brands, as well as for Accor North America, which includes the Novotel and Sofitel lodging brands, and will serve on the AEL Strategic Committee.

According to Le Mener, To take full advantage of our newly increased size and operational capabilities, and in recognition of Red Roofs excellence in its application of leading-edge technology to its operations and marketing programs, we determined that Jeff was the ideal candidate to lead our consolidated MIS function. Immediately, Jeff will develop an organizational plan for the new MIS organization as well as short-term and long-term goals for the transition and subsequent integration of the brands information systems.

Winslow brings more than 22 years of MIS experience to his new role at AEL. He joined Red Roof in 1983 as Director of Management Information Systems and in 1988 was named Vice President after directing the development of the strategic business and property management systems that established Red Roof as a technological leader in the limited-service segment of the industry. Before joining Red Roof, he served as Director of Management Information Systems at Adria Laboratories, a Columbus-based pharmaceutical company.  Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Equicom Communications Inc., a Red Roof sister company that provided long distance and operator services to Red Roof properties.

Winslow began his career in MIS in 1972 when, while still attending college, he joined Volkswagen of American as a computer operator. Upon graduation, he was promoted to Senior Systems Analyst until he joined Ernst and Whinney, a leading accounting firm, where he served as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies including Reliance Electric, Exxon and Glaxo. Winslow received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

With the August 1999 acquisition of Red Roof Inns, Accor Economy Lodging, which also operates the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, emerged as the largest owner and operator of lodging properties in the economy sector, and as the ninth-largest U.S. hotel company overall. In addition, Accor Economy Lodging comprises in aggregate more than 10% of the entire economy lodging sector with 1,112 properties representing more than 122,000 rooms located throughout the 48 contiguous states. Its parent company, Paris-based Accor S.A., is currently the third-largest hospitality company in the world, with a portfolio comprised of 3,084 lodging properties representing more than 340,000 rooms.
