MIAMI, Sept. 1, 1999 � Tecton Hospitality today announced
it has signed a contract to manage the Howard Johnson's hotel in downtown
Miami.
The hotel is located at 1100 Biscayne Blvd., across the street from the new American Airlines arena and Port of Miami. The property was recently purchased by Hank Sofer, a New York City parking lot mogul and owner of Quik Park. "Tecton is aggressively pursuing hotel and motel management opportunities to expand its business in South Florida,� said Richard Millard, president and CEO of Tecton Hospitality. �This hotel has a great location in downtown Miami, with convenient access to the city for both tourists and business people. It is a five-minute walk from the new American Airlines Arena, Miami Arena, port of Miami and Bayside Marketplace. The hotel will cater to business travelers, pre- and post-cruise vacationers and sports fans." The seven-story, 115-room Howard Johnson's hotel has a pool, bar and restaurant, meeting room facilities and free transportation to the port of Miami, where cruise ships depart. Each room is equipped with a phone and voice mail service, a data port, a coffee maker and Lodgenet, which provides in-room movies and games. Rooms start at $59 per night. Headquartered in Miami, Tecton Hospitality is a hotel management and consulting firm that provides operations management, marketing strategy and accounting services to hotel properties nationwide. Tecton manages 20 hotels in the United States, including Clarion, Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Marriott Courtyard, Residence Inn, Sheraton and Quality Inn properties. |
