ORLANDO�Mary Ann Richardson, CHA, has been named Florida�s
�Hotelier of the Year� by the Florida Hotel & Motel Association (FH&MA).
The award was made to the Daytona Beach hotelier at the statewide lodging
industry�s annual conference on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at the Renaissance Orlando
Resort.
Richardson was chosen by her colleagues for this award�the Florida lodging
industry�s highest honor�due to her continued dedication to the hospitality
business and her outstanding professional and personal accomplishments.

Richardson is the owner of the El
Caribe Resort and Conference Center in Daytona Beach Shores. She
was among the first women hoteliers to serve on FH&MA�s board of directors,
ultimately becoming its first woman president in 1987. She also is
the first woman to receive the �Hotelier of the Year� award.
On a local level, Richardson has been active in the Daytona Beach Hotel-Motel
Association since 1979, serving on the board and the association�s Education
Scholarship Awards Committee, which she chaired for 12 years. In
addition to serving as past president and FH&MA director-at-large since
1988, she also is a long-time trustee and member of the board of
the Florida Hospitality Mutual Insurance Company, headquartered in Jacksonville. |
An ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., Richardson chairs
the Christian Education Committee for First Presbyterian Church in Daytona
Beach.
Richardson, a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), holds a bachelor�s
degree in French Literature from Vassar College. She also received
masters of arts and philosophy degrees from Columbia University.
She is a Jackson, TN native and a 24-year Daytona Beach resident. |
