Robert G. Goldstein Named  President of The
Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino

LAS VEGAS - Sept. 10, 1999-- Las Vegas Sands Inc., the parent company of the recently opened Venice-themed mega-resort, has appointed Robert G. Goldstein as president of The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino. In his new role as president, Goldstein will oversee and manage all day-to-day operational functions of the $1.5 billion destination resort mirrored after Venice, Italy.

Prior to his appointment, Goldstein served as senior vice president of Las Vegas Sands since December 1995. In that capacity, Goldstein spearheaded the parent companys efforts to bring fine dining establishments and luxury retailers to The Venetian.

The fruition of his work has resulted in an unmatched line-up of retailers at The Grand Canal Shoppes, The Venetians indoor shopping mall, as well as an unparalleled array of restaurants by world- renowned chefs throughout the property.  In addition, Goldstein was instrumental in securing the world-renowned Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Venetian.

An experienced gaming executive with expertise in marketing and casino operations, Goldstein is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and holds a law degree from Temple University.
It is worthy to note that Goldsteins appointment as president of The Venetian does not change the corporate structure of Las Vegas Sands, the resorts parent company.

Sheldon G. Adelson will remain as chairman of the board of Las Vegas Sands, and will oversee all corporate activities of the parent company. William P. Weidner will continue as president and chief operating officer of the parent company, and will manage all corporate operations.
Bradley H. Stone will continue his role as executive vice president of Las Vegas Sands by managing the corporate functions of The Venetian. By contrast, Goldstein will oversee the day-to-day operations of the resort. He will retain his title as senior vice president of the parent company.

In addition, Stone will oversee the development of Phase II, a second hotel, gaming and meeting complex connected to The Venetian.

David Friedman will continue his role as assistant to the chairman of the board of Las Vegas Sands, and will oversee various legal and administrative functions of the company.
Open since May 3, 1999, The Venetian is the first all-suites hotel on The Strip, with 3,036 suites, and features a gaming facility of approximately 120,000 square feet; The Grand Canal Shoppes, an enclosed retail, dining and entertainment complex of approximately 500,000 square feet; and The Venetian Congress Center, a meeting and conference facility of approximately 500,000 square feetall connected to the existing 1.2 million-square-foot Sands Expo and Convention Center.

The Venetian premieres several firsts, including the first SpaClub by world-renowned Canyon Ranch, one of the worlds most elite health resorts (the 65,000-square-foot health spa and fitness club will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in North America) and the first Madame Tussauds Celebrity Encounter in the United States.
