The Diplomat Appoints Cyntercon As a
Technology Consulting Partner for
its 1000-room Oceanfront Hotel

Gaithersburg, Maryland—September 13, 1999—CynterCon today announced that it will provide comprehensive IT Outsourcing services to The Diplomat Resort & Country Club (The Diplomat).  Located in Hollywood, FL, the project includes a hotel, country club, golf course, convention center, retail mall, yacht harbor and condominiums. CynterCon provides global consulting and outsourcing services. It is a CynterCorp affiliated company.

As the third phase of a multi-phase project, CynterCon will act as The Diplomat’s MIS department, providing consulting on technical issues, new equipment and preventive maintenance.  CynterCon will also establish support procedures and provide technical consulting services in the ongoing design, development and implementation of the property’s wide area network.

“CynterCon has brought extensive experience to the table to ensure that The Diplomat will be on the cutting edge of technology.  We look forward to providing our guests with the best possible experience during their stay and we feel confident that CynterCon’s recommendations will help make this possible,” said Joe Palmar, Chief Financial Officer and IT visionary of The Diplomat.

Additional services that CynterCon will provide include:  implementation of the network architecture and systems in The Diplomat’s country club hotel and user training on system functionality.  CynterCon will also provide The Diplomat an ERP specialist and a full-time network resource to respond to operational issues.

“The Diplomat needed a technology consulting partner with extensive experience in hardware, software and system integration in three diverse areas-- hospitality, retail and food service—encompassed by its ambitious project,” said Joe Paiva, Vice President and Managing Director, CynterCon. “CynterCon was the ideal choice for the project because we bring together years of IT expertise in each of these three industries.”

Currently, CynterCon provides project management and system selection services for all the equipment that comprises the technology backbone at The Diplomat, including extensive functionality requirement specifications, design review, technical review, project management, and the development, delivery and processing of RFPs for the purpose of vendor selection.

The Diplomat is one of the most ambitious hospitality projects ever constructed in South Florida.

As the first phase of the project, the 60-room country club hotel, fitness center and tennis club are scheduled to open in December, 1999. When the 1000-room oceanfront hotel opens in Fall 2000, it will be the largest property in Southern Florida. The state-of-the-art convention center, retail mall and luxury ocean side condominiums are also slated to open in Fall 2000. The Diplomat was purchased in 1997 by the United Association of Plumbers, Pipe Fitters and Sprinklerfitters (the United Association.).  It is independently owned by the United Association, and managed by Driscoll Development, L.L.C.

CynterCorp affiliated companies provide a wide variety of technology services to the retail, hospitality and foodservice industries including system implementation & training, call center/help desk, global consulting, information resources and Internet services. CynterCon provides complete IT outsourcing services including procurement, integration and implementation of custom and packaged IT solutions enterprise-wide.  Headquartered in Gaithersburg, MD, CynterCorp has six US regional offices and international regional headquarters in London and Sydney.
