THE WOODLANDS, Texas, September 14, 1999 - Burt Cabañas,
the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Benchmark Hospitality, has
been named one of the 25 most influential people in the $82 billion meetings
industry, by Meeting News magazine, one of the leading meeting trade publications.
Meeting News, which highlights Cabañass advocacy of resort-type centers, notes that Benchmark runs the kind of high-profile properties that buyers increasingly are associating with this niche. The story also credits Cabañas for being a tireless promoter of (the) conference-center concept and a zealous supporter of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC). The magazine writes that Cabañas and the others have demonstrated -- through their actions and words that they are at the forefront of the sweeping changes in the meetings industry at the dawn of a new century. Benchmark Hospitality is recognized as one of the premier management
firms specializing in the development and operations of resorts, conference
centers, conference hotels and golf clubs. I am honored to be recognized
by MeetingNews, Cabañas said. This is a reflection of the hard
work of all Benchmark Hospitality employees and the success we have experienced
over the last 20 years.
The Meeting News honor wasnt the first for Cabañas. In 1988 he was honored with IACCs Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the field. He is a Founding Member of IACC and has served in the past as president and board member. Headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, Benchmark Hospitality is a recognized leader in resort, conference center, and conference hotel management. |
