Emphasizing Business Travelers after Renovation

SAN JOSE, Calif - July 6, 1999--Located in the heart of the Silicon Valley, the Holiday Inn-San Jose
North has completed a $7.5 million renovation and rebranded as a Crowne Plaza hotel, one of the upscale brands of Bass Hotels Resorts. It will now be known as the Crowne Plaza San Jose/Silicon Valley.

Sheila Giovanazzi, general manager of Crowne Plaza San Jose/Silicon Valley said the hotel has placed a special emphasis on servicing the high-tech business traveler and meeting planner because of its close proximity to prominent companies such as Lucent Technologies, Quantum and Cisco Systems.

The majority of our business comes from the business sector, rather than through tourism. We are now attracting customers who are seeking the sophisticated accommodations and facilities most highly valued by business travelers, said Ms. Giovanazzi.

The hotel maintains professional conference and full-service catering staffs to assist in meeting and special-occasion planning, and now has a concierge for personal service needs. Personal computers, printers and computer disks are available in the business center.

New carpet, wall coverings and lighting have been installed in each guestroom. Guestroom amenities now include data ports, voice mail, coffeemakers, hairdryers, irons, full-size ironing boards and Sony Playstations®. Business travelers may also take advantage of the Crowne Plaza Club executive level which includes keyed elevator access, express check-in/out, private lounge, and smart desks and smart lamps. Smart desks can adjust to either secretarial style or may be set up to better accommodate computer equipment. Smart lamps have electrical outlets at the top, making laptops easier to plug in.
Extensive renovations have also been made to other areas of the hotel. The lobby, restaurant and meeting rooms have new carpet, wall coverings and lighting. The exercise room was upgraded to include a dry sauna and state-of-the-art bikes, stairsteppers, and treadmills.

Exterior renovations include the addition of a porte cochere at the entrance, and new landscaping. New furniture and upgraded lighting were placed in the pool area.
