Regal Bostonian Hotel Completes $13.5 Million Addition; Adds 10 Woman Traveler' Rooms

Boston, MA June 21, 1999 - The Regal Bostonian Hotel has augmented its colonial charm and elegance with a $13.5 million addition of guest rooms, fitness suite, executive boardroom and new restaurant space, announced Richfield Hospitality Services president and CEO Thomas OLeary.

Set in the heart of Boston across from Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Regal Bostonian Hotel now offers a complement of 189 guest rooms and 12 suites with completion of the expansion project.

The central addition is a new, eight-story brick wing topped by five penthouse-level guest rooms and suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows displaying the Boston skyline.  Additions can be seen in the original hotel building as well, with 11 new guest rooms and suites, and an executive boardroom.

The Regal Bostonian has earned a very loyal following through boutique-style ambience and service.  By expanding on a manageable scale, we can better meet that demand, and at the same time enhance the Regal Bostonian experience for all of our guests, said Robert Rivers, general manager of the Regal Bostonian.

Rivers added that he is eager to finalize details on a new ground-floor restaurant, to be operated by an independent restaurateur.

Recognized as one of the worlds top 500 hotels this year by readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine, the Regal Bostonian also is home to Seasons Restaurant, which has been rated as one of the top 50 restaurants in the U.S.

Many of the hotels rooms feature private balconies with French doors, oversized whirlpool baths, canopy beds and fireplaces.

Regal Bostonian Hotel also offers 10 guest rooms specially fitted to serve the woman traveler, with day-to-day essentials such as static cling spray, hygiene products and lighted portable makeup mirrors.  Added personal touches include notecards in each room, extra throw pillows and fresh flowers.  Crabtree & Evelyn facial, pedicure and aromatherapy bath pampering packs also are available.

Introduced this spring, ten woman traveler rooms blend essentials, comforting touches and luxuries to make Regal Bostonian stays even more special for women, said Thomas OLeary, president and CEO of Richfield Hospitality Services.

Weve considered what traveling women need, and added something extra, said OLeary.  Its all of those things youve run out of, forgotten to pack or deserve when youve earned some pampering on the road.

Complimentary day-to-day amenities include static cling aerosol, lighted portable makeup mirrors, copies of Self magazine, and womens bath and hygiene essentials. Crabtree & Evelyn facial, pedicure and aromatherapy bath pamper packs are available in each room, ready for guest use at an additional fee.

Scented drawer liners, potpourri, tasteful notecards and throw pillows also are added touches to pamper the woman traveler.   All of the rooms are non-smoking.

Added touches in each room begin with fresh orchids, vanity seat and plush towels in the bathroom, terrycloth robe and matching slippers.  Each is a discrete, small touch on its own that adds up to make a difference, said Regal Bostonian director of sales and marketing Rachelle Boudreau.
