DALLAS - Aug. 25, 1999 - Bristol Hotels Resorts
(NYSE:BH) has announced the appointment of Colby H. Springer as vice president
and chief information officer. Colby will lead all of the company�s
information technology activities. His immediate duties will concentrate
on Bristol�s Phoenix Project, which involves the installation of a wide-area
network connecting all managed hotels and the home office on a high speed,
real-time basis. The project also includes the completion of Y2K compliance,
and the installation of several networked sales and catering systems that
allow simultaneous multi-user access to room and meeting space availability
across several properties.
�We expect Colby to make a great addition to our management team,� said
J. Peter Kline, Bristol chairman and chief executive officer. �He brings
extensive IT experience from outside the industry to blend with Bristol�s
talented base of hospitality knowledge. He is a seasoned leader who can
work closely with our operations team to establish and execute our technology
strategies. We look to Colby and his talented team to continue to enhance
our use of the Internet to provide better and more efficient customer and
vendor relationships. Colby comes to Bristol with over 30 years of
experience in the information technology field. He has held senior executive
positions at MJ Designs, Michaels Stores, Blockbuster Entertainment and
Pearle Vision. His extensive experience includes working with multi-unit
retail and service businesses, point of sale systems, computer networks
and enterprise resource planning systems.
Colby has a bachelor�s degree in engineering/computer science from the
University of California, Los Angeles and a master�s degree in business
administration from California State University, Northridge. He is a member
of the Data Processing Management Association and the International Mass
Retailers Association (IMRA).
