Mexico's Milenium Hotel Group Installing  IPORT™ Internet Access System

Las Vegas, NV, May 10, 1999 – ATCOM/INFO today announced that the Century Hyatt in Tokyo has added the IPORT™ Internet Access System to several floors of the 766-room property, making it the first hotel in Japan to provide high-speed Internet access service in guestrooms.  Additionally, the Milenium Hotel Group has completed installation of IPORT in the Holiday Inn Express in Monterrey and plans to bring the technology to its eight other properties throughout Mexico and the United States.  The debut of IPORT in both Mexico and Japan solidifies the company’s position as the global leader in public Internet technology.

ATCOM/INFO’s partnership with Tut Systems has enabled hotels to provide ‘plug and play,’ high-speed Internet access that runs over their existing phone lines.  The companies have built a tightly integrated, complete solution in the US – comprising Tut System’s Expresso MDU technology with the IPORT platform – and have set up a joint VAR channel to aggressively pursue more international opportunities together.

The introduction of IPORT marks ATCOM’s first foray into Japan and Mexico, expanding the technology’s reach to three continents.  IPORT provides guests with an Internet connection that is up to 50 times faster than a standard dial-up computer modem, enabling them to access and download presentations, images, long documents or short videos over a dedicated  T-1 line. IPORT also provides guests with “plug and play” connectivity to the Internet, requiring no software or reconfiguration.

“The Milenium Hotel Group has recognized the importance of providing business travelers with convenient and compatible Internet access, and the service provided by the IPORT platform helps set our properties apart from the competition,” remarked Enrique Sanchez, corporate planning director for the Milenium Hotel Group. “Our installation of IPORT in Monterrey is just the first step in our plans to incorporate high-speed Internet access into our other properties in Mexico and the United States.”

“The Century Hyatt Tokyo prides itself on offering its business travelers the most advanced business services available, a reputation that has been advanced by the installation of IPORT,” said Eiko Akiyama, public relations director for the Century Hyatt. “The IPORT Internet Access System provides our guests with high-speed Internet access from the privacy of their room – an addition that makes each room at the Century Hyatt Tokyo an ‘office away from the office’ with all the comfort of a ‘home away from home.’”

IPORT will also be available in the business centers of the two hotels, as well as their conference and meeting rooms.  Business and convention delegates, who previously had to dial out with a modem to present Web sites or access the Internet, will now have the power and convenience of high-speed Internet access.  Guests wishing to take advantage of ATCOM/INFO’S IPORT in the Monterrey and Tokyo properties will be billed a single low rate for 24 hours of Internet access.

“The efforts of the Milenium Group and Century Hyatt to provide their guests with the most modern accommodations and business facilities would not be complete without in-room high-speed Internet access,” said Tom Caldwell, vice president of marketing and business development at ATCOM/INFO.  “The introduction of IPORT in Japan and Mexico extends our technology to an entirely new audience of international travelers, an audience which will quickly come to expect high-speed Internet access from all hotels.”
