LOS ANGELES - Jan. 27, 1999--In honor of Ronald Reagan's
upcoming 88th birthday on Feb. 6, 1999, the legendary Westin Century Plaza
Hotel & Tower will unveil the Ronald Reagan Suite, a spectacular suite
of rooms dedicated to the former President.
The Reagans' association with the Westin Century Plaza dates back to the hotel's opening in 1966 and has continued over the years from his time as the Governor of California through his two terms as President of the United States. The couple were the first to stay in the former Plaza Suite upon its completion in 1984 and have been frequent guests of the hotel ever since. The new Ronald Reagan Suite was created as part of a recent multi-million dollar enhancement program at the Westin Century Plaza. The stunning 8,000-square foot presidential suite, which occupies the entire 30th floor of the Tower, is surrounded by an outdoor terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows affording panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline. The suite features reinforced concrete walls and bullet-proof glass. A private kitchen was added so that the Reagans could entertain guests. Because the original building served as the "Western White House" for
every U.S. President since the hotel's opening in 1966, it was only fitting
that the first guests to check into the Tower were President and Mrs. Reagan.
Bennett Hall Images created the theme for the suite following months of
extensive research.
